Microsoft Artificial Intelligence and Research Finance team (AI+R Finance) is an exciting and fast paced finance team at the forefront of Microsoft's emerging technologies (incl. artificial intelligence, healthcare and various other research projects) with the following focus: * Driving strategic financial planning and deal management * Keeping pulse on market trends and competition to support company's long-term bets * Support successful landing of new products in the market with the goal to expand long-term profitability * Enhance transparency into financial implications of investments, product and partnership decisions to drive the right behaviorThe Senior Finance Manager role is a terrific opportunity to understand new emerging technologies and support efforts to achieve Microsoft's leading position. The ideal successful candidate will be self-motivated, results oriented, possess ability to identify business drivers, work around ambiguity and exhibit maturity to influence leadership decision making. The position has a high level of exposure to AI+R Finance, Marketing and Engineering leadership, and requires strong financial and business acumen as well as excellent analytical and communication skills. * Bachelors degree in Finance, Business, Accounting, Economics or related field. * Approximately 7 - 10 years of demonstrated work experience in strategy, investment banking or corporate finance* A track record of influence the business through initiative and in bringing financial analysis and insight * Excellent communication skills (written and oral), including an ability to communicate effectively with senior management. * Experience forming cross-group and cross-functional partnerships to achieve goals with strong business partnering skills with ability to influence others without direct authority * Ability to juggle multiple projects and priorities and re-prioritize as necessary in order to align with current business objectives * Self-starter; strong facilitator * Ability to communicate complex analysis in a simple wayKey Success Criteria: * Financial/economic analysis & modeling skills. This role requires a hands-on approach and the individual must be comfortable in rolling up her/his sleeves and diving in * Ability to thrive in a dynamic and sometimes ambiguous environment: The individual must be able to work in an environment where everything is not fully defined. The ability to work in fluid setting, define things and strategize is critical * Proficiency in excel and use of pivot tables, data tables, and modeling techniques is a must * Great collaboration, team work and business partnership: Extremely important for the person in role to possess great collaboration skills and able to build networkMicrosoft is an equal opportunity employer.   • Financial modeling: Build robust, driver-based financial models to support investment prioritization as well as deal/partnership negotiations * Market research and economic analysis: Conduct market analysis to provide insight into industry trends, competitors including earnings coverage * Financial P&L Management: Lead Key Financial ROB that includes working closely with many different work stream owners to meet P&L objectives and report results thru close, Scorecard, MBR, and Quarterly reviews. * Financial Reporting & Analysis: Analyze and present executive quality financial results performance to leadership teams. This includes monitoring P&L trends, key drivers, revenue, and resource investments against plan/forecast assumptions. * Complete and lead special projects, as needed
