About the Role

AppDynamics is seeking a Sr. Finance Manager to join our Finance team. This is a highly visible and challenging role responsible for leading the SaaS Deal Desk, driving the assessment, preparation and presentation of key strategic financial and forecasting models. Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Evaluate and drive adherence to incoming SaaS deal quotes (or proposals) for accuracy, especially with respect to profitability, optimizing for order profitability and longer-term customer profitability, discounting levels and business terms

  • Prescribe SaaS deal structuring best practice guidance to Sales and Sales Operations teams

  • Partner with Sales leadership on crafting workable solutions

  • Partner with Commercial Pricing and Strategy leadership on actionable lessons learned from deal activity

  • Design and improve SaaS guidance, assets (incl calculators, policies) and processes with scaling efficiency in mind

  • Develop understanding of AppDynamics SaaS product use cases, unit costs and scaling mechanisms

  • Drive data analysis and reporting, highlighting key insights and recommended actions (levers for improvement)

  • Seek opportunities for improvement and refinement

Qualifications

This role requires a strong understanding of financial disciplines, good business acumen, and the ability to communicate recommendations effectively. A bachelor's degree with an emphasis on business or accounting is required. A CPA or MBA is preferred with at least 5+ years of demonstrated growth progression. Other requirements include the following:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with ability to communicate/manage upward

  • Strong understanding of GAAP accounting and finance concepts

  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint and modeling

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to quickly grasp and apply analytical concepts

  • Ability to perform in a high demand, dynamic environment and manage to established deadlines and/or expectations

  • Strong decision making skills with the ability to consider company-wide consequences

  • Ability to organize and lead cross-functional personnel

  • Ability to think creatively, are highly driven and self-motivated
