ABB is seeking Senior Field Service Technician Generator Circuit Breakers for it's Midwest or Western Region. You will plan and execute, with minimal professional guidance, complex semi-technical field assignments involving the installation, modification, overhaul, troubleshooting, test, inspection, repair of High Voltage Circuit Breakers particularly Generator Circuit Breakers, GCBs. Coordinate work with other groups to ensure meeting commitments typically on remotely operated maintenance and testing equipment. Recommend measures to improve operations and customer service.
Professionals ( > 2 years of work experience)
Typical duties/responsibilities for field service may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Perform complex field service operations that typically present unusual problems requiring strong technical skills.
Provide leadership in the assembly and operation of field service test equipment.
Conduct tests requiring selection and adaptation or modification of equipment and procedures.
Compile and evaluate data to determine and resolve operating problems or malfunctions.
Develop recommendations and prepare reports for review.
Maintain detailed records and logs.
Troubleshoot and repair equipment, applying own knowledge and experience.
Identify electrical or mechanical problems and determine with no or minimal assistance the corrective action. Recommend changes such as new equipment or modified procedures to improve performance and customer satisfaction.
Conduct detailed inventories and inspections to determine necessary maintenance and repairs, and assist in determining resource requirements.
Lead the performance of assigned field services projects such as non-destructive examinations and analysis. May be responsible for direction, analysis and reports involving complex test projects.
Assist in planning and coordinating team efforts.
Guide less experienced technicians and instruct them in proper and safe operation of equipment.
Often work non standard schedules at field locations with exposure to varying environmental conditions.

Follow safety policies and procedures.
Associate degree/technical diploma in an electrical or mechanical related field and 5+ years of experience dealing with Field services of Medium or High Voltage equipment.
Alternatively, a Bachelor's degree in engineering may replace 2 years of High Voltage equipment experience.
Experience with Generator Circuit Breakers desired.
Assignments require thorough understanding of Company products and equipment, namely Generator Circuit Breakers and High Voltage Circuit Breakers, and, general engineering concepts and principles, construction techniques and ability to communicate effectively.
Commissioning experience carrying out high voltage tests.
Handling of SF6 Sulfur Hexafluoride gas.
Work is subject to general overview to ensure quality.
