Title Senior Faculty Fellow, Provost Initiatives (UA Internal Only) Department Office of Academic Affairs (9902) Medical Sub-Speciality Location Main Campus Position Summary

The Senior Faculty Fellow will provide leadership on planning, review, and development of special projects associated with preparation for the Higher Learning Commission self-study and site visit. The Senior Faculty Fellow will report to and work closely with the Senior Vice Provost for Academic Affairs and the Executive Director for Academic and Curricular Affairs to review current processes and practices that relate to assumed practices and core criteria of the HLC Assurance Argument (self-study). This is a part-time position that will begin early Spring 2018 and may continue through Spring 2020. The submission of the Assurance Argument will be due summer 2020 with the HLC site visit scheduled for December 2020.

This part-time appointment is intended to permit the faculty member to stay engaged in scholarship and teaching in his/her home department, with a modified workload to accommodate the work in the Provost Office. The successful candidate will receive the additional title of Senior Faculty Fellow for Provost Initiatives, stipend added to the base salary, and additional funds that can be used for operations, such as travel, conferences, dues, or subscriptions OR can be used to hire adjuncts or TAs. The funds will be transferred to the department.

Duties & Responsibilities

Major areas of focus for this position will include assistance with the following:

  • review of instructional faculty qualifications and online instructional faculty training and certification;
  • development and adoption of an electronic syllabus template to be used for all courses;
  • generate a course syllabus handbook for faculty;
  • creation of a syllabus repository;
  • review of learning outcomes for all courses and assessment plans, activities, and outcomes for all academic programs;
  • review of course syllabi to ensure compliance with credit hour requirements, differentiation of graduate and undergraduate course requirements, and learning outcomes in co-convened courses and equivalent courses across instructional modalities and teaching locations;
  • assist with assembling documents for the Assurance Argument;
  • help craft communication plans/newsletters to disseminate accreditation information to campus;
  • attend the Higher Learning Commission Conference;
  • other duties as assigned; and
  • supervise 10-12 HLC Faculty Associates from the colleges who will help faculty and department heads with duties outlined above.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Minimum Qualifications

  • Faculty position at UA (TTE or Career Track) with 3 years teaching experience.

  • Familiarity with course and academic program assessment best practices.

  • Ph.D. or ED.D. degree.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with teaching face-to-face and online courses

The University of Arizona South (UA South), a branch campus of the University of Arizona (UA), is seeking an Assistant Professor of Practice who will teach undergraduate courses in Computer Science and Informatics.  The teaching areas of web and mobile app development, networking and security, data analytics, and human computer interaction are especially desirable.  This position will work closely with a student academic support team between Arizona Western College and the University of Arizona for a cohort of Informatics majors located in San Luis, Arizona and will teach distance modality courses to various UA locations across the state and Online. The position is located in Yuma County, Arizona and will require travel to other UA locations.
