We are looking to hire an Senior Expediting Agent (Customer Liaison) who will process shipments in a safe and accurate manner ensuring operational excellence, high productivity and customer satisfaction while overseeing the daily operations of an A or B level customer. Interface with customer to ensure that Panalpina provides effective freight and logistics solutions, clarify operations processes and resolve issues.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor status of material on customer's purchase orders from placement of order with vendor until arrival at Panalpina (accomplished through use of expediting application)

  • Prepare status reports as required

  • Provide accurate and timely updates on material status to customer, consignee, or field location (as required)

  • Assist customer in responding to technical inquiries and be first point of contact for customer for any issues regarding PA

  • Participate in logistics planning meetings with the customer

  • Work with project material scheduling in order to offer suitable logistics plan

  • Advise customer on US export requirements and in country requirements

  • Present various sea/air/domestic freight solutions to maximize delivery schedule and keep costs under control

  • Consult with customer on PA processes for receiving, checking, resolution of discrepancies, packing and relevant document prepartion including time frames for each process step

  • Meet with various third parties to develop most effective plan for their activity to work within project guidelines

  • Establish good working relations with vendors and suppliers

  • Maintain efficient information flow with packers and forwarders on orders requiring special handling

  • Report timely and comply with deadlines

  • Report to management on any unusual issues regarding shipments

  • Adhere to policies and practices regarding safety

  • Perform other functions as assigned by management

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Post-secondary vocational training or college degree in Business Administration, Transportation or Supply Chain Management is preferred

  • Excellent knowledge of export, packing, freight forwarding and packing regulatory requirements with proven track record of two (2) years in industry

  • Knowledge of related Panalpina products and features

  • Working knowledge of local market (customers, competitors, suppliers)

  • Prior success delivering results in a similar customer and deadline-driven global environment

Languages

  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English in a professional business environment

  • Due to Panalpina's global presence and customer base, fluency in foreign languages is highly desirable
