Senior Estimator 2 (1249-356)

Traylor Bros., Inc. has an opening for a Senior Estimator 2 at 1420 King Street, Suite 600, Alexandria, Virginia 22314. 40 hrs/wk; 9am - 5pm; M-F.

Responsibilities: Prepare cost estimates for large-scale heavy civil/underground construction projects including bridges, dams, marine structures and tunnel projects; perform quantity takeoffs from plans; participate in design task force groups; consult with division/regional management, project manager, superintendents, personnel in other departments to discuss and determine appropriate means & methods for planning and estimating purposes; prepare cost estimates in HCSS Heavy Bid; analyze plan specs, historical records, and other data to prepare accurate estimates; communicate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain quotations; design or coordinate design of temporary structures such as shoring, false work, cofferdams, formwork, and templates; work with the estimating team to produce project schedules; collaborate with the design team to produce constructible and cost-effective designs in pursuit of design-build work; assist with estimate closeout and final bid preparations; supervise engineers/interns; and assume additional responsibilities as directed by division and corporate management. Travel domestically (4 times per year) to attend site visits/pre-bid walkthroughs, Client/Joint Venture review meetings, and additional trainings as required for career development.

Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, or Civil & Infrastructural Engineering, or Construction Management or foreign degree equivalent, plus 5 years of post-bachelors progressively responsible experience as an Estimator and/or Engineer in heavy civil construction industry; OR Master's degree in Civil Engineering, or Civil & Infrastructural Engineering, or Construction Management or foreign degree equivalent, plus 3 years of experience as an Estimator and/or Engineer in heavy civil construction industry. Experience must include: review project specifications and confer with Project Manager and Project Engineer concerning project requirements, such as plan preparation, acceptance testing, evaluation of field conditions, design changes, and reports; perform quantity takeoff's, build estimates utilizing software programs such as Agtek, BIM, REVIT, HCSS or Bluebeam; and supporting Project Manager and other supervisors in preparing summary reports, pricing additional work and identify cost overrun activities.
