About This Role

Apeel Sciences is seeking an experienced Senior Equipment Buyer to support strategic sourcing activities with Apeel's Engineering Project Manager(s) to successfully source, develop, deliver and manage appropriate equipment, machinery, hardware and software solutions for Apeel's global integrations. This role will support the design of the supply chain strategy to support the relevant engineering teams on supply chain management best practices and drive project execution. The candidate will develop strategic relationships with equipment suppliers while maintaining the highest level of professional and ethical conduct.

What You'll Do

  • Responsible for strategic sourcing critical equipment and the management suppliers

  • Develop proposals, generate competitive bids, obtain necessary purchasing approvals, negotiate or assist in the negotiation of contract terms

  • Finalize purchasing agreements and expedite order(s) if needed to ensure contract terms are met

  • Continue to purchase assigned goods and services per contract while working to improve quality, delivery, and price

  • Generate the most suitable purchasing arrangement such as contracts, blanket orders and vendor stocking arrangements to streamline and obtain optimum pricing and delivery

  • Design and manage procurement standard operating procedures (SOP's) to drive business continuous improvement

  • Maintain the integrity of the ERP purchasing system database, investigate purchase order or inventory discrepancies, resolve delivery/receiving and payment issues in a timely manner

  • Maintain direct contact with suppliers to ensure the quantity and quantity of products, parts, and services

  • Issue Supplier Corrective Action Required (SCAR) letters if material is compromised

  • Routinely provide qualitative and quantitative supplier feedback in addition to scorecard to ensure supplier performance against KPIs on top tiered suppliers

  • Analyze incoming requisitions and shortage reports for quality, specification, pricing and delivery requirements and drive timely execution to support service level agreements (SLA's)

  • Manage inventories per forecasts and support company financial goals

  • Establish cost reduction targets by commodity or strategic category

  • Present procurement data to cross functional teams or management in presentations and technical reports.

  • Support and consult on cross-function department teams to deliver on project objectives

  • Perform other duties as assigned

What You Bring

  • 5 years of as an equipment buyer and engineering experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 3 years and a Master's degree

  • Thorough knowledge of procurement, vendor relations, material planning and inventory management

  • Familiar with GMP's (Good Manufacturing Processes), product specifications and incoming inspection procedures

  • The ability to read technical drawings

  • Effective verbal and written communication, analytical and interpersonal skills

  • Must have the ability to prepare and deliver effective presentations

  • Strong organizational skills and detail oriented

  • Strong influencing, negotiating and contracting skills

  • Experience with ERP systems

  • Must be willing and able to travel periodically

  • CPIM, CPM, CSCP certification desirable

  • Ability to interface well with cross-functional teammates

  • A desire to be a part of and lead highly motivated teams in a fast pace dynamic environment

  • Bilingual with fluency in Spanish is desirable

  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Power Point

VIEW JOBS 10/15/2020 12:00:00 AM 2021-01-13T00:00 THE POSITION Operate and maintain a variety of power-driven maintenance and construction equipment for conducting maintenance activities including mowing turf, beach cleaning, loading, hauling, and related operations; operate and maintain large turf equipment. Perform general maintenance duties and participate in a variety of special maintenance projects. Assist with landscape improvements, playground equipment installations, installation and repair of irrigation systems, and special projects. Inspect and maintain assigned equipment in a safe, working order. May lead the operations of a small maintenance crew. Perform related duties and responsibilities as required. The current vacancy is in the Parks Division of the Parks and Recreation Department. EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS Knowledge of: Operation and maintenance requirement of power-driven equipment; practices, methods, and materials used in maintenance work and in general construction; traffic laws, ordinances, and rules involved in heavy equipment operation; basic mechanical maintenance and repair techniques; occupational hazards and standard safety practices; principles of lead supervision and training. Ability to: Operate a variety of power-driven equipment including: ride-on mower, skip-loader, front end loader, track loader, beach sanitizer, backhoe, forklift, cement saw, trencher, chainsaw, sod cutter, fertilizer spreader, and brush chipper; perform a variety of semi-skilled construction and maintenance tasks; read and interpret maps, sketches, drawings, specifications and technical manuals; learn, understand and apply pertinent laws, rules and regulations. Ability to work independently in the absence of supervision; understand and follow oral or written instructions; communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work. License Requirements: Possession of a valid California Driver's License and a Class B License within six months of appointment. Experience/Education: Minimum of one year experience, with three years preferred operating various light and heavy maintenance and construction equipment. Physical Standards: Requires frequent lifting/carrying of 25-50 pounds and, occasionally, objects over 50 pounds; reaching, stooping and crouching; exposure to noise, dirt, dust, fumes, vibration, heat, cold, dampness; handling tools and equipment; listening for mechanical defects and good operation.
