Position Summary

The Senior Environmental, Health, and Safety Manager will create, implement, coordinate, and continuously improve environmental, health, and safety programs to ensure all operations are as safe and injury-free as possible. This role provides consultation and direction to ensure programs and services are implemented with the highest environmental, health, and safety standards. Ensures EH&S policies and procedures are monitored and updated to meet current business needs and regulatory requirements.

Primary Accountabilities (Essential Duties)

  • Ensure overall EH&S compliance of manufacturing facilities, construction sites, and office operations by creating standard safety audit processes, providing access to safety training resources, and administering the Gibraltar Safety Platform (RTRS - Real Time Risk Solutions) and Emergency Communication System (Rave Mobile Security) throughout Terrasmart.

  • Drive and instill a group culture of safety that embraces continuous improvement.

  • Oversees all physical safety experience and ensures injuries and incidents are minimal to zero.

  • Reviews and revises remediation plans to ensure effectiveness.

  • Ensure the review and revision of standards for field and production safety across the company.

  • Ensure that construction and production processes comply with occupational safety & health regulations, as well as similar corporate regulations.

  • Ensure policies and procedures are monitored and updated to meet current business needs and requirements.

  • Work with construction and production staff to establish "best practice" procedures, standards, and systems related to safety.

  • Determine future safety training needs, develop policies and SOPs, and prepare and deliver training as needed.

  • Participate in multiple-site safety audits to ensure compliance with EH&S requirements, lead/ participate in Kaizen events and other incident reduction initiatives.

  • Review documentation of Near Misses, First Aid, and Recordable Injuries - develop and enhance trainings to ensure all Near Misses/First Aids do not turn into future recordables.

  • Continuously monitor all locations and build standards for hazardous safety and health conditions and ensure identified hazards are corrected, eliminated, or guarded.

  • Assist in creating and maintaining training materials.

  • Ensure the timely and accurate creation of all safety incident reports and investigations with proper submission to HR and Worker's Compensation (as needed), with timely follow-up to eliminate any future similar incidents, and management of ongoing claims.

  • Audit field & manufacturing operations to verify compliance with EHS regulatory and corporate requirements.

  • Hosts monthly Execution Review sessions - focusing on KPI performance, continuous improvement and project updates

Education / Experience (an equivalent combination of education and experience required to successfully complete the primary accountabilities is indicated below)

  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, or related
  • 4+ Years of Experience in Safety and/or Compliance
  • 3+ Years of Experience in Construction
  • 3+ Years of Experience in Manufacturing Area

Technical Skills

  • Microsoft Office Products

Licenses / Certifications

  • OSHA 500, OSHA 510, and CHST

Physical Requirements

  • May be required to lift up to 40 pounds.

  • Must be able to walk for extended periods of time.

Work Conditions

  • Environment: Office, warehouse, outdoor project sites, mixed terrain, outdoor elements

  • Travel: Candidates must be willing to travel 50% or more of the time
