Job Duties and Responsibilities

Senior Engineers, Radio Frequency to be responsible for engineering design and system performance of the T-Mobile GSM/UMTS/LTE & 5G Nokia & Ericsson networks. Support coverage, capacity, and performance planning on the T-Mobile network. Responsible for development, testing, and validation of radio frequency feature plan proposals. Follow implementation guidelines for approved new features and technologies. Apply engineering principles to design and optimize network coverage, performance, and capacity. Serve as technical subject matter expert and perform in-depth analysis of new features and technologies. Serve as lead technical resource for engineering design and system performance of the T-Mobile network at a market or regional level. Prepare presentations for Senior Manager- and Director-level audience.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as lead resource for advanced monitoring and review of radio network key performance indicators (KPIs) using tools including ENM/OSS, Nokia NetAct and OneData.

  • Apply radio frequency propagation principles, cellular theory, radio frequency engineering tools, antenna theory and a strong understanding of the 3GPP specifications (LTE & NR Air Interface, PHY, MAC, RLC, RRC, PDCP and NAS layers).

  • Experience with Ericsson/Nokia platforms and product lines to

  • Design, monitor and optimize the 4G & 5G ENodeB & GNodeB (Cell Sites)

  • Fine tune the vendor specific RAN features

  • Mitigate Congestion and improve customer experience using advanced layer management and load balancing techniques.

  • Develop processes and strategic approaches to problem solving.

  • Devise inter-and intra-team processes for system performance.

  • Serve as KPI subject matter expert to improve network performance.

  • Monitor, and analyze statistical network performance data using OneData, Truecall and IRIS protocol analyzer and optimize Key Performance Indicators including SIP DCR, AFR, LTE & NR Throughput, Leakage.

  • Collect, process, and analyze drive test data using TEMS investigation & Actix and optimize Performance Indicators including RSCP, Ec/Io, SINR, UE TX Power, LTE Throughput, Dropped calls, Blocked Calls, and HO failures based on layer-3 log analysis.

  • Work with operations team to troubleshoot complex site network problems including SINR, High & Low RTWP, PIM, Hardware, and Interference issues.

  • Review data to determine cause of faulty equipment, and address customer and employee complaints received through information analyzer, Truecall, EEA/T-Insights, Tupl and PIER.

  • Advanced knowledge of Eden-NET SON (Self Organizing Network) network architecture and SON module creation and customization using Python to

  • Automate Network level Radio Parameter and Configuration changes

  • Implement Outage compensation methods to improve performance

  • Create rulesets for auditing network level parameters and for custom Optimization

  • Work with RF Engineers to evaluate and resolve complex issues.

  • Experience with advanced Wireless industry 4G & 5G Radio Network Troubleshooting, and Optimization practices to improve Key Performance and Quality indicators including SINR, CQI, User Throughput, SIP Dropped Call Rate, Access Failure Rate, EPSFB Failure Rate, Handover Success Rate and Leakage.

  • Participate with federal, state, and local jurisdictions to ensure regulatory and zoning compliance for new cell sites.

  • Serve as lead resource for coverage, capacity, and performance activities.

  • Define and develop internal process used for radio network design and new features/technologies implementation.

  • Provide capacity planning and growth strategies.

  • Apply experience creating advanced Data Visualization reports using Power BI, Tableau and Qlik data analytics platforms.

  • Apply experience with MO shell and XML Scripting to create Site Commissioning files and make network wide parameter changes.

  • Lead development, testing, and validation of RF feature plan proposals.

  • Define implementation guidelines for approved new features and technologies.

  • Lead team in application of RF performance principles to performance activities.

  • Serve as lead subject matter expert on 2G,3G,4G and 5G (FDD & TDD) network technologies.

  • Implement network changes including Spectrum Pivots, market wide Frequency retunes, and support BSC & RNC rehomes.

  • Provide engineering support to Sales team and customers.

  • Advise management on tactical and strategic issues.

  • Serve as lead developer and resource for market, regional, and national planning and performance tools.

  • Apply advanced computer skills, including UNIX, Oracle Database, VBA, SQL, and Python Programming.

Functional and Technical Skills Requirements

Applicant's experience must include:

Minimum Experience and Education Requirements

PRIMARY REQUIREMENTS: Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field or equivalent and 3 years of relevant work experience.

ALTERNATIVE REQUIREMENTS: Applicant must have Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field or equivalent and 5 years of relevant work experience.

Additional:

  • Florida Pay: $130,760.72 to $135,760.72 per year

  • The pay range above is the general base pay range for a successful candidate in the state listed. The successful candidate's actual pay will be based on various factors, such as work location, qualifications, and experience.

  • At T-Mobile, employees in regular, non-temporary roles are eligible for an annual bonus or periodic sales incentive or bonus, based on their role. Most Corporate employees are eligible for a year-end bonus based on company and/or individual performance and which is set at a percentage of the employee's eligible earnings in the prior year.
