The Tactical, Communications, and Maintenance Application (TCMA) department is seeking an innovative, challenge driven, engaged, and proactive leader to join the leadership team as a Senior Engineering Manager.

Role Overview

This Senior Engineering Manager will lead a team of software and systems engineers in the design, development, integration, and verification of embedded Surveillance and Communication application software. This software is integrated into aircraft avionics for Rotary Wing and Fixed Wing platforms. This content is integrated into US military (US Army, Special Operations Army, Marines, Air Force, Coast Guard, Navy) platforms as well as a variety of International platforms.

This team creates and maintains Surveillance Command and Control (C2) software, spanning a variety of Identification Friend or Foe (IFF) transponders and modes (Mode 5, ADS-B Out, etc.). The team also creates with Communication (Comm) applications that provide C2 for a variety of tactical radios spanning multiple bands and waveforms (HF, V/UHF, Satcom DAMA, SINGCGARS, HAVEQUICK, SATURN, MUOS, etc.). This content is then integrated into a variety of avionics flight deck architectures, with a number of different processing hosts, and display types. The ideal candidate has a technical background with these C2 capabilities and/or the avionics platforms.

Job Responsibilities

Focus for the candidate will be on employee development (coaching, mentoring, and career development), team performance and project execution (on time, on budget), process compliance, and strategic direction setting for the C2 applications. Role requires the ability to communicate with multiple levels of engineering, program management, and technical and fiscal leadership with regards to execution performance, strategy, pursuit estimates, and design approaches. Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and customers effectively is required.

Team utilizes Agile execution methodologies, candidate is expected to have experience with, or has led, Agile executions (be that Product Manager, Scrum Master, Product Owner, Program Lead, Team Lead, etc.) in the past.

Required Qualifications:

  • US Citizenship is required. Must have or be capable of obtaining a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance. Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation/reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirements.

  • This position requires a Bachelor's degree in the appropriate discipline and 8 years of relevant experience or an Advanced degree in the appropriate discipline and 5 years of relevant experience. In the absence a degree, 12 years of relevant experience is required.

  • Familiarity with Military communication (radio) products and operation

  • Experience leading a Software/Systems team in defining requirements, developing software architecture and design, and performing software verification (full software life cycle)

  • Embedded software development experience using c/c++ and/or Ada

  • Experience with rigorous development processes, such as DO-178B/C

  • Experience with Agile development processes

  • Large project (10+ engineers) execution experience in managing cost, schedule, and scope

  • Strong Earned Value background

  • Fluency with ALM tools (Jira, Confluence, Jama a +)

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
