Job Summary:
Position is responsible for partnering with facility leadership teams to provide technical leadership and support to achieve required new products and product improvements, manufacturing cost, quality improvements and manufacturing equipment utilization, reliability, speeds, scrap rates, and efficiency goals. Additionally, the position is responsible for the leadership of large capital expansion projects for the supply chain network.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides technical leadership for continuous improvement projects in assigned areas for improvements in efficiency, waste, speeds, quality, and safety.

  • Works closely with production, maintenance, quality assurance, and research and development to meet daily production goals, priorities, and coverage and special projects.

  • Leadership of large capital projects for the network of facilities. This includes establishing design parameters, scope, budget, schedule development, contracting methods and team development. Additionally, ensure the successful execution of the project and acts as primary communications to the Director of Engineering and SLT on Key Project Performance Metrics, critical decisions, risks and challenges.

  • Ensure the development of detailed project plans and timelines including resource and equipment needs, budgets, outside contractors, purchased equipment and materials, etc. Proactively documents and tracks and communicates project status including problem areas. Ensure work is completed in the required time frame and within budgetary requirements.

  • Works closely with all stakeholders to provide focused daily direction and technical support to crews and maintenance; analyzes and makes recommendations for process improvements.

  • Directs process engineering group on new product / process improvement and materials trials as assigned or required while minimizing production impacts; ensure process engineering team works cohesively with all groups.

  • Ensure that technical capabilities can be provided to support business objectives by recruiting and training necessary personnel on all current, new and upgraded processes.

  • Uses information from teams, production reports, and audits to focus internal and external resources to quickly troubleshoot and solve technical problems.

  • Acts as a Process Engineer, managing own projects and workloads. Completes tasks on time, within budget, and with expected results. Oversees engineering new, critical process descriptions and databases. Manages process development initiatives, services and service levels.

  • Partners closely with research and development, production and plant engineering to prioritize and plan project work. Manages demand for process-oriented projects, services and simulates new process designs. Maintains, audits, and updates as needed documentation, insuring process conditions and measurements are defined, documented, and shared with operators.

  • Promote a safe and harmonious work environment and adherence to company policy and procedures.

  • Maintain compliance with S.Q.F.

Education and Experience:

  • BS in an Engineering discipline of Mechanical/Chemical/Manufacturing/Industrial/Process

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in manufacturing

  • 6 years' of combined experience and exposure in the following functional areas: GMP and regulatory requirements (required); investigational techniques and tools for process investigations and technical risk assessment (required); principles of cleaning validation, process validation and packaging validation (required); use of data analysis software (required); costing experience (required); technical transfer techniques (required); creating documents including batch documentation, validation protocols, evaluation protocols/reports, investigation reports and SOPs (required); installing, configuring and troubleshooting control panels, instrumentation, electrical and motor controls, and/or network equipment (required); capital project management (required); PLC

Skills and Competencies:

  • Knowledge of principles, methods and problems of operating business functions

  • Knowledge of general computer functions such as Microsoft Office programs, spreadsheets, etc.

  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of insurance and risk management and their application to manufacturing

  • Knowledge of budgeting, fiscal management, and grants and contract management

  • Knowledge of technical, resource, and risk management
