We're on the lookout for an experienced Sr. Electric Motor Systems Engineer with expertise in designing and developing systems utilizing electric motors. In this key role, you'll utilize your talent in electrical and multi-physics simulations to set up overall time-domain and behavioral models, potentially using mesh networks and analytical models, representing overall subsystems including an electric motor, inverter, resolver, controller, gearbox, and mechanical loads. You will excel at motor control techniques and have had prior experience utilizing your skills in automotive environments. You will also heavily support detailed analysis of commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) products that may be integrated into an eAxle system for class 8 heavy duty trucks, provide support with testing and validation, and work on a talented team to create and/or evaluate new technologies and develop the most power dense, efficient, and reliable electric motor systems.
Additionally, you will:
Assist the team in first generation vehicle requirements tracking and validation
Perform complex design analysis and simulations
Develop engineering designs (including subsystems)
Implement engineering changes
Specify and balance system requirements
Plan and implement test and/or development programs
Generate technical solutions for current, new and major programs
Provide technical leadership for advanced technology development
Provide any additional technical support as necessary
M.S. in Electrical Engineering, plus 3+ years of experience, or
Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, plus 1+ years of experience
Specialization in Control of Electrical Machines & Drives
3-5 years in electrical machine controls & systems analysis
Extensive knowledge & experience required in electrical simulation tools, such as PLECS, Simulink, and relevant analytical models
An understanding of engineering theory and principles of design
Experience in designing, development, and testing of electric machines
Working knowledge of multi-objective optimization
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve
High level of project management skills
Working knowledge of automotive systems
Working knowledge of electric motors, or hybrid systems
Working knowledge of electric motor and inverter controls
Strong interest and ability in integration and system understanding
High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual or difficult
Relatively comfortable in startup environments and with a high level of ambiguity and uncertainty
Candidates must have current U.S. work authorization or be TN eligible from Mexico or Canada. This position is not eligible for CPT or OPT.
