Caterpillar Inc. seeks Senior Engineer-Perf/Sim/Ap at its facility located at 14009 Old Galena Rd., Chillicothe, IL 61523.

Support product and VPD technology development. Application of structural system simulations to influence early product concepts and design decisions, to improve the existing products by resolving structure issues and to develop or improve simulation related processes and technologies.

Perform needs analyze and initiate ideas; evaluate new products, processes, or systems; communicate results to customers, suppliers, team members, and other business units; contribute to the design of new products and processes; support other engineers, managers, marketing personnel, customers, and suppliers. Manage own development, continuously learning through experience and staying abreast of technology changes. Learning will focus on methods, processes and systems applied to engineering functions, key engineering skills, practical application of theory, communications and building a knowledge of Caterpillar's products, suppliers, and customers.

Telecommuting: Hybrid Allowed, with minimum 60% of time in office each week. Up to 10% domestic traveled required.

REQS: This position requires a Master's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, or related field and two (2) years of experience in the Structural simulation and finite element theory or related field. Additionally, the applicant must have employment experience with: (1) Non-linear material and large deformation, contact/impact, and dynamics; (2) Simulation tools such as ABAQUS, ANSYS, NASTRAN, LS-Dyna, NX, Fe-Safe, Hyperwork, Simlab, Virtual Lab, Tom Sim, and Adams; (3) Data analytics or machine learning techniques in the context of finite element analysis; (4) Thermal mechanical FEA, nonlinear bolted joint analysis using ABAQUS or ANSYS; and (5) Fatigue Life Analysis.
