Job Description SUMMARY

The Senior Engineer will need to apply principles, knowledge and practices of Engineering and Operations for timely identification, analysis and resolution of process related issues to ensure safe, reliable and cost-efficient plant operations. Utilize current and new industry developments in Operations Management to improve facility performance and reliability. Support efforts to de-bottle neck and streamline existing operations and make recommendations for the improvement of the reliability of the Operating Processes. Responsible for acting as a Project Engineer or Project Manager on a selection of projects, both Maintenance Cap Ex and Growth Cap Ex, including ultimate responsibility for design, planning, execution, financial control, resource management, and coordination with Operations. Will update project status weekly and will update project financial forecast at least monthly. Responsible for providing close support to Operations in providing scope and cost input for budget items. A person in this position shall be capable of operating with minimal supervision.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Provide Technical assistance and support to the Operations Teams in optimizing process performance and for maximizing site profitability

  • Design, estimate, and execute Capital projects. Generate Design Basis Document at the beginning of the project.

  • Provide high-level screening of projects at an early stage, to guide business strategies. This will include cost estimates and timing estimates and definition of risks involved.

  • Coordinate all personnel involved in the project and manage all expenses so as to ensure the efficient execution of the project, and achievement of all project objectives

  • Provide weekly project status updates on all current projects

  • Participate in and at times lead incident investigation teams for troubleshooting and determining root cause of plant incidents/issues/problems.

  • Develop plant modifications for projects within all degrees of complexity.

  • Understand, comply with, and participate in the Management of Change (MOC) process.

  • Participate in 'What Ifs' and HAZOP studies, to include PHAs and PSSRs.

  • Actively participate in the Design Review process and lead the Project Post-Mortems.

  • Provide necessary support to guide the timing of plant shutdowns and turnarounds.

  • Provide expertise on plant shutdown and turnaround activities - planning and execution phases.

  • Identify projects, supported with written justification, for inclusion in capital expenditure budgets.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of process units in the Plant. Recommend and guide in the development of special operating procedures where helpful.

  • Provide support in the development and review of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

  • Present a professional image at all times to co-workers, clients and vendors and maintain a positive reputation of the Organization.

  • Be aware of and comply with Human Resources policies and procedures.

  • Actively seek and pursue development of skills needed to progress in the field of engineering and leadership/management.

  • Support and promote a pro-active HSSE culture within the Organization.

  • Support full compliance to HSSE related legislation & regulations, corporate requirements and management system(s) (i.e. operating policies and procedures).

  • Assist other Departments and other administrative personnel as necessary.

  • Constantly seek to adopt the most up to date practices and to be innovative in their application.

  • Provide project options with associated cost estimates to Operations leadership as requested

Job Requirements EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering required.

  • 20+ years relevant Engineering experience.

  • Engineering and Technology "Possess thorough knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and construction of various Terminal projects. This knowledge to include, but not be limited to: ASME pressure vessels, API 650 tanks, piping design, pumping system hydraulic design, instrumentation, and deep foundation options.

  • Critical Thinking " using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.

  • Judgment and Decision Making " Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.
