The Construction & Manufacturing Team supports all of Haskell's delivery groups across the company and the projects throughout the United States. The Construction & Manufacturing Team is responsible for providing the field management personnel, from the craft worker to the Project Superintendent. The Construction & Manufacturing Team also provides the team member with logistical support; including but not limited to establishing per diem rates, company trucks for superintendents, and the coordination of arrival for team members as needed on the project. The Construction & Manufacturing Team provides continual training for our team members to support their development from entry-level craft workers, via in-house/online courses, to local jurisdiction apprenticeship programs. In this role, you will provide engineering expertise and guidance to Project Engineers, Designers, and Design Engineers, and will make sure that the project is technically sound, on schedule, and within cost. Qualified individuals will manage the assigned scope(s) of work within the project(s) as directed by the supervisor. You will possess the skills required to manage smaller project efforts with reduced guidance and support from Engineering Management.
Job Responsibilities:
Application of Knowledge of Packaging Systems (Conceptual Design)
Uses knowledge and experience to develop innovative solutions to our customer's packaging challenges.
Maintains knowledge of packaging equipment and innovations.
Leads or supports the development of proposals for customers and potential customers.
Design
Assumes responsibility for all mechanical design details and execution for their assigned projects.
Ensures that there are complete and accurate design analyses/calculations
Documentation of packaging system design calculations
Ensures that there are complete and accurate specifications for packaging materials and packaging equipment
Development of equipment specifications, requests for quote (RFQ's)
Develops line layouts with designers and design engineers
Develop and implement design standards for projects
Evaluating equipment requirements and ensuring proper integration into the packaging systems.
Review and analysis of vendor proposals for equipment, installation services, etc.
Performs analysis of proposed and potential systems to present Value Engineering options to the facility owner for their consideration for the incorporation into the project.
Work with automation engineers to establish a sequence of operation & control system architecture
Develop & implement an acceptance test plan for the equipment at the vendor's facility and for the installed system at the customer's facility
Construction Support
Direct the work of construction crews & service technicians

Ensure all drawings are updated at the completion of the project

Designs project within provided design budget and monitors when the scope is expanded.
Supports the negotiation of scope changes.

Education/Experience:
Engineering Degree from an accredited four-year program
Seven (7) to fifteen (15) years of experience in packaging and production systems and/or automated manufacturing systems is preferred
Experience in the food, pharmaceutical, beverage, or consumer products industries is preferred
Specific Knowledge, Skills, License, Certifications:
Professional registration preferred
Must be computer literate
Computer-aided design (CAD) is desirable

Environmental Factors and/or Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, this position is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, and arm, hand and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read application/form information. The associate frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.
