Job Description
Cloud Center of Excellence (CCoE) develops the public cloud service capabilities that support Danfoss and its customers. The CCoE will help to further enable our global digital transformation and fulfill employees needs while progressing on our hybrid multi-cloud adoption journey. The CCoE is looking for an experienced Senior Cloud Engineer who is passionate about using the latest cloud technologies and empowering the organization to utilize the cloud as the preferred technology accelerator for digital growth. You will join a team of highly skilled cloud architects and engineers who handle the global infrastructure at Danfoss.
You'll be working in a global cross-functional environment with close contact to many different stakeholders like; Manufacturing Technology Engineers, End-of-line Test Engineers, Product and Software Development engineers, Business System Architects, and relevant stakeholders from Global IT.
To be a great Senior Cloud Engineer at Danfoss you'll need to provide reliable, future-proof solutions. It will be your role to take responsibility for the cloud environment and help develop a standard platform that can scale for our global business and engineers while mentoring other CCoE team members.
You can work remotely or in one of our locations in the US. Please note that some travel (approximately 1-2 times per year) may be required.
This position requires the use of information or access to technology which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR/EAR. ITAR/EAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
Job Responsibilities
Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Ensure compliance with ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations) requirements, including maintaining ITAR certification or the ability to obtain ITAR certification to support secure and regulated cloud operations.
Oversee the design, implementation, and management of scalable, secure, and efficient cloud infrastructure, ensuring high availability and performance across all cloud environments.
Develop and enforce cloud governance policies, monitoring systems, and operational best practices to ensure compliance, security, and cost-efficiency of cloud resources.
Mentor, plan, guide, and review the contributions of the team members
Support centralized cloud governance and consultation services to the organization
Drive cloud adoption across the organization and institutionalize best practices (in a technical capacity)
Provide technical consulting support to application architects within projects to ensure the projects are aligned with overall design principles.
Develop and enhance cloud tools and services
Develop infrastructure as code templates to support an automated deployment of cloud resources.
Document cloud environments and supply appropriate runbooks for Cloud Operations
Maintain the cloud service catalog with the latest technology stacks and features
Communicate updates to the service catalog to the user community
Measure and optimize system performance, with an eye toward pushing our capabilities forward, getting ahead of customer needs, and innovating to continually improve
Partner with development teams to improve services
Participate in system design consulting, platform management, and capacity planning
Create sustainable systems and services through automation
Balance reliability with feature development speed
Background & Skills
The ideal candidate possesses these skills:
3+ years experience working as a Cloud Engineer, Senior Cloud Engineer, or similar role
High proficiency with Python, Powershell, Terraform, Kubernetes
Excellent knowledge and working experience with Azure, AWS, or Google
Hands-on cloud experience - deployment of a cloud landing zone and application migrations
Passionate about building useful cloud technologies for the organization
Familiar with working in an agile environment
Experience with cloud-native architectures
Cloud ecosystems expert
Proficient knowledge of networking, security, and automation tools
Proficient knowledge of cloud adoption best practices
Workload architecture and sizing experience including big data, analytics, ML/AI, etc.
Proficient at writing technical documentation
Familiar with ITIL framework
Good at stakeholder management for internal business areas as well as external vendors.
Have great communication skills
Problem-solving attitude and team spirit
A proactive approach to spotting problems, areas for improvement, and performance bottlenecks
Experience working in a global team
Proficient in both written and spoken English
