The Harley-Davidson Motor Company Vehicle Operations facility in York is our final assembly plant. Employees at York also perform a variety of manufacturing operations, including fabrication, welding, polishing and painting and produce a wide range of current and replacement parts for all models. Join our team as a Senior Engineer Advanced Manufacturing.
Play a vital role in product and process development and integration between Engineering and Manufacturing (both internal H-D and Supply Base). Create manufacturing innovation and standardization, Bill-of-Process guidelines and templates, requirements planning, risk assessment/mitigation (PFMEA), and process design. Lead equipment selection including implementation, interface with systems maintained by Global Information Systems, transition process to Operations, after action analysis, and Continuous Improvement. Manufacture QCT targets and deliverables on assigned projects.
Responsible for ongoing activities, objectives and may lead medium to large scale projects from concept to development, through capital funding planning and approval, and ultimately through successful implementation.
Influences and impacts part design related to Design for Assembly, error proofing, fixture design, torque strategy development and incorporating quality improvement measures.
Solves complex problems related to "Should Cost Analysis" for new tooling and parts and enacts a new perspective on existing solutions.
Ability to apply knowledge of best practices with suppliers to develop best practice assembly methods and procedures and how their own area integrates with others to drive results.
Implements JIT and Lean Manufacturing principles (5s, Six Sigma, CI system, etc.)
Performs supplier technical assessments and implements supplier technical development plans.
Works independently and receives minimal guidance.
Bachelor's Degree Required
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience
Knowledge in the following areas: Design for Assembly/Manufacturing (DFA/M) principles; Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) tools and methodology; assembly process planning, process control planning, and material handling/flow.
Success in managing medium-to-large-scale projects from concept development through capital funding planning and approval, and ultimately through successful implementation.
Experience with motorcycle, automotive, or powertrain assembly is preferred.
