As our primary owner for everything related to employee operations across all of Lever, you will ensure all our processes, policies, and benefits and perks are impactful, scalable, compliant, and aligned with our values. You will own our HR systems and data, making sure they are truly streamlining processes and providing the information needed to make key decisions both for the Employee Experience team and the rest of the company. You will revise what we already have in place and build from scratch what we are missing, with a diligent eye toward efficiency and effectiveness. You will drive everything from mapping out initial strategies and priorities, to "interviewing" relevant stakeholders and proposing solutions that incorporate their input, to managing rollout, iterations, day-to-day operations, and communication. In close collaboration with the rest of Lever's Employee Experience team, you will set the industry standard for employee practices that truly support the employee and bring the rest of the company enthusiastically along on that vision.
Since this role is all about raising the bar, we are looking for someone who has a mix of HR expertise (tools, best practices, familiarity with United States and Canadian employment law), operational chops (stellar organization and project management skills), a strategic lens (connecting day-to-day work with bigger-picture organizational objectives), and the ability to influence (inspiring the company on why a process change will help up-level us as a company). THE SKILL SET
45+ years of experience with HR operations owning benefits and perks, policies and procedures, and HR systems, tools, and data
Strong experience managing, evaluating, and implementing HR systems, such as HRIS or onboarding systems; bonus points if you are adept with ADP Workforce Now
Strong experience partnering with Finance, IT, and other teams to ensure our data and systems are accurate and secure
Strong experience onboarding and offboarding employees
Familiarity with Ontario and U.S. employment law
Strong experience supporting employees across national boundaries
Excellent attention to detail; strong written and verbal communicator
Excellent ability to translate raw data into insights and recommendations
Track record of effectively handling multiple priorities and projects simultaneously

WITHIN 1 MONTH, YOU'LL...
Attend Ramp Camp, Lever's week-long version onboarding program. You'll learn about all aspects of the business with a cross-functional cohort of new Leveroos.
Attend your first company-wide All-Hands meeting. You'll learn about the key goals of the business, how we're doing, and where we're headed.
Discuss the mission of the Employee Experience team, how our team's work aligns with the needs of the business, and how each person's role (including yours!) fits in; meet with each Employee Experience team member to learn more about their work and how you will partner together.
Working with our People Programs Manager and Director of Employee Experience, revamp our process for responding to inbound HR requests so it's as efficient as possible.
Get to know our current processes for payroll, comp, and equity, and how you will partner with Finance and the rest of the Employee Experience team on these processes. Identify the biggest gaps in our processes.
Collaborate with the rest of the Employee Experience team to get to know our benefit and perk offerings, and discuss the biggest areas for improvement.
Partner with the Director of Employee Experience and Director of Recruiting to get to know our headcount planning and position management processes, and discuss the biggest areas for improvement.
Conduct your first Lever exit interview with a departing employee and ensure their offboarding is efficient, smooth, and, respectful.
WITHIN 3 MONTHS, YOU'LL...
Take over owning inbound HR requests including questions about our benefits, perks, policies, and processes to ensure we are responding to inquiries promptly and effectively.
Run your first Lever-wide comp calibration process to ensure we are paying competitively and fairly. This will include gathering and analyzing market data, partnering with the People Programs Manager to facilitate manager trainings and company-wide communication around comp conversations, and soliciting feedback from stakeholders so we can continue to improve the process.
Conduct an audit of our employee data with the Director of Employee Experience, to ensure information about employees in our systems are fully up to date. Align on a way to make sure employee data will remain updated as changes in the org occur.
Take over owning our position management process, making sure that the process runs smoothly and efficiently for all stakeholders involved (including Recruiting, the rest of the Employee Experience team, and business leaders).
Run onboarding from start to finish with your first group of Lever new hires in collaboration with People Programs Manager and Toronto-based People & Office Manager (including verifying employment eligibility and helping to deliver Ramp Camp content on benefits and perks), with an eye toward making it even more efficient and effective moving forward.
In partnership with our Director of IT/Security and Director of Employee Experience, audit how we're using our current HR systems (for example: our HRIS and our onboarding system), and map out a plan to improve them to make sure that our ecosystem of tools is effective, simple, and cost-efficient. This could mean changing how we use our existing systems, or vetting new systems.
Get to know our travel and expense policy and how you will partner with Finance and the rest of the Employee Experience team on its execution.
Help shape the entire Employee Experience team's priorities for the next 6 months.
WITHIN 6 MONTHS, YOU'LL
Complete the first major phase of your revamp of our HR systems. This should include significantly streamlining how information flows through our systems and the experience of users both on and off the Employee Experience team.
Audit our benefits and perks in both our San Francisco and Toronto offices, and propose changes to make to our offerings and providers. You'll keep in mind the needs of our diverse employees and loop in our Employee Resource Groups (which represent different employee groups) to make sure our decisions take into account the perspectives of different communities at Lever, as well as what's financial feasible for us as a business. Align with Finance on the plan, and communicate the changes with the company in a way that excites employees and helps them understand the why.
Manage open enrollment (for U.S. employees) end-to-end from confirming providers and offerings, to organizing trainings, to responding to employee questions, to tracking participation with an eye toward making this process easily repeatable in the future.
Partner with the rest of the Employee Experience team to build dashboards and reporting that allow the team to easily track our key metrics.
Partner with the rest of the Employee Experience team to run a successful employee engagement survey. This includes ensuring strong participation in the survey, and prompt follow-ups based on survey results, from both U.S.-based and Toronto-based teams. Work with the Employee Experience team to execute on actions and next steps coming out of the survey results.
WITHIN 12 MONTHS, YOU'LL...
Complete your revamp of HR systems. This should include training key stakeholders on how make the best use of our tools.
Revise our dashboards and reporting to streamline how the team tracks our key metrics.
Partner with the rest of the Employee Experience team to map out the team's (and your own) priorities for 2020, focusing on what will have the biggest impact.
