Position Summary:

The primary purpose of the Senior Electronic Technician position is to install, repair, program and maintain the card access, closed circuit television, and other electronic security systems. Provides training and guidance to electronic technicians.

Position Key Accountabilities:

Installations: Completes work orders related to the maintenance of electronic security systems. Installs access control, CCTV and other security related devices.

Training and Guidance: Provides training and guidance to electronic technicians.

Preventive and Security: Assists in overall system preventive maintenance and documentation. Assists UTPD project managers with on-going security related projects.

Oher Duties as Assigned: Other duties to include, but not limited to, emergency recall and/or may be required to remain onsite or work extended hours during man-made or natural disasters and unusual occurrences on campus. Local or long distance travel may be required for training or other business purposes occasionally.

Certification/Skills:

None; Preferred Certification: Pelco, Vicon, Intellex, Nice or Software House Manufacturer certifications.

Minimum Education:

High school diploma or equivalent supplemented by approved courses in electronics. Preferred Education: Some College.

Minimum Experience:

Three years of journeyman-level experience in the installation, maintenance, repair and operation of modern electronic equipment. Preferred Experience: Four years of experience in the Installation, maintenance, repair and operations of electronic security systems.

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.

Security Sensitive:

This job class may contain positions that are security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of Texas Education Code § 51.215

Residency Requirement:

Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.
