LG Magna e-Powertrain USA is currently looking for an experienced, motivated, and results-oriented Quality Engineer to join our team. Reporting to the head of Quality, The Quality Engineer is responsible to resolve quality issues, provide field support, and resolve customer issues using problem solving techniques.

Overall Responsibilities:

The Quality Engineer position is collaborative and highly impactful. It is responsible for the quality aspects of fully Electric Vehicle components (Inverter and Converter) issued from the customer plant, warranty center, and test field. This includes root cause analysis, resolving issues, leading improvements, and screening non-conforming parts.

The major tasks are shown below:

Responsible for managing customer quality issues, including receiving all-electric vehicle components returned from the customer, warranty center, and test field. This includes root cause analysis, problem-solving, repair/refurbishment of defective parts, and validation with Lab test equipment.

  • Performance and Failure testing uses lab equipment, such as Chamber, TAS, and EOL (End-of-line tester), to measure electrical characteristics, perform leak testing, etc.

  • Responsible for addressing all quality issues that occur in the field or plant and providing support to plant liaisons and third-party inspectors related to fully electric vehicle components, including the inverter and converter.

  • Analysis of all warranty claims to determine their root cause and lead to improvement for the plant.

  • Tear down the returned products to discover the problem parts and analyze the root causes.

  • Participate in the development of Failure Mode and Effects Analysis.

  • Lead the response of emerging quality issues and responsible for containment and tracking of those issues.

  • Effectively communicate with customers and internally communicate quality issues.

  • Leads the quality data analysis of customer-reported failures to identify potential risks.

  • Reports quality status to the customer using PRTS, 5 Phase, GQTS, and 8D tools.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Industrial engineering

  • Minimum five years of experience as a Quality Engineer or Test Engineer

  • Experience in strategic planning, process improvement, analyzing information, quality engineering, attention to detail, thoroughness, and dealing with complexity

  • Knowledge of Quality management systems TS16949 and APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, etc.

  • Understanding of electrical PCBA (printed circuit board assembly)

  • Ability to interpret and create electrical schematics

  • Ability to travel up to 10% to customer sites and for business meetings is required

  • Ability to use independent judgment and exercise discretion while performing job tasks.

Preferred and Desired Qualifications:

  • Technical Knowledge of automotive electronics

  • Experienced in Electrical Vehicle components such as Inverter or Converter

  • Certified Quality Engineer, Certified Reliability Engineer

  • Knowledge to read and understand programming languages such as C Languages, Visual Basic, and/or others

  • Ability to be Self-driven and results-oriented with a strong sense of initiative in tackling complex tasks

  • Ability to learn quickly with the willingness and flexibility to learn and adapt to company working culture and processes

  • Excellent written/verbal communication and organizational skills

  • Ability to understand customer needs to probe for answers, and then determine a solution and advocate that solution to the customer

  • Ability to work with customers and internal stakeholders and make sure all deliverables are met

  • Capacity to identify risks and raise issues with relevant stakeholders

  • Superior attention to detail

  • Ability to work under pressure and to maintain deadlines

  • Knowledge of OEM processes and requirements
