SAIC has an immediate need for a Senior Electrical Engineer to support a team providing hardware and software development solutions to the CCDC Aviation & Missile Center S3I Systems Design Group (SDG) located in Huntsville, AL

  • Identify and manage electrical/electronic hardware requirements.

  • Perform circuit design, analysis, simulation and component selection for high availability, high reliability and low Size, Weight and Power (SWAP) environments.

  • Perform initial checkout and debug of prototype printed circuit board (PCB) assemblies.


Required Education: BS degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering and five (5) years or more experience.

Required Skills:

  • Experience with embedded microcontroller hardware/firmware design and development, FPGA firmware design, development, verification

  • Familiar with high speed digital design (e.g. DDR3/DDR4)

  • Assist with analog design for data acquisition systems

  • Understanding of switch mode power supply design, motor control and


  • Generate and Review documentation for a Technical Data Package (TDP) associated with the design, development, unit test, and integration of hardware/firmware components.

  • Assess technical and integration risk and help identify mitigations.

  • Witness integration and testing, review test plans and procedures, review and adjudicate Deficiency Reports.

  • Review relevant milestone contract deliverables and provide recommendations across the life cycle of the development effort.

Clearance Required:

Must already have or be able to obtain a SECRET clearance prior to first day of employment. Current SECRET clearance preferred.

Our Electrical Engineering team puts the spark into the full hardware development lifecycle, from concept to production. It takes experts in system architecture definition, design, analysis, prototyping, sourcing & the debugging and validation of layouts or routes to deliver state-of-the-art products for a changing world. We work closely with designers, cross-functional teams within Dell and suppliers to make sure electronic designs meet a range of requirements, including schedule, feature set, functionality and quality, as well as industry standards. Accountabilities * Designs and develops electrical architecture for mobile equipment and their hardware systems * Determines and communicates design approaches and parameters * Analyzes test plan requirements to perform verification * Oversees experimental tests and evaluates results * Selects components based on analysis of specifications, cost, continuity of supply, and reliability * Reviews original design manufacturer and sub-tier vendor capability to support product development and production * Ensures that designs integrate with rest of product functions including mechanical and software * Creates and maintains required documentation including specifications * Ensures the manufacturability, reliability, and serviceability of designs * Supports specialized electrical sub-systems such as power, batteries, comms, graphics, component, memory, etc. * Supports the prototype builds of designs Key Responsibilities * Drives system architecture definition for assigned program, and ensures consistency/compatibility with other products (both new/legacy) as necessary * Leads cost reduction initiatives and projects * Partitions design tasks and leads electrical team in implementation and validation on program * Drives appropriate simulation and ECAD * Works with engineering manager to assist in the creation of the development plan for program, including schedule, risks and resources * Cultivate a strategic partnership with Dell's SW & ME architecture teams * Ability to present to executives at regular intervals Essential Requirements * 10 years experience in product design * Work experience and deep knowledge of X86 architecture * A solid understanding of security elements (ECs & TPM's) within a computer system * Ability to execute Dell's strategic direction Dell is committed to the principle of equal employment opportunity for all employees and to providing employees with a work environment free of discrimination and harassment.
