Waters is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our organization in the development of high performance scientific instruments.
In this role, you will be part of a team of Electrical Engineers in our Continuing Engineering group responsible for sustaining analog and mixed signal circuitry in our products from start of sales through the entire life of the product.

Candidate must have strong and diverse skills in electronic circuits used in laboratory instrumentation (examples, embedded processors, power supplies, high-speed analog and digital electronics, motor control, EMI and sensors for pressure, flow, position and optical measurements).
Design, simulation, and verification of mixed signal and embedded systems
Be capable of lab testing of circuits using electrical test equipment including logic analyzers, and oscilloscopes
Schematic capture and provide PCB layout guidance
Measurement of performance of circuits in design prototypes: timing and margins
Investigate design issues and make design changes to prevent reoccurrence
Ensure validation of electrical designs including leading electrical design reviews
Investigatie new components in resolving obsolescence challenges
Assessing, mitigating, and communicating risks
Working closely with other functional and project leaders to enable successful project launches
Design transfer to manufacturing
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
5+ years electronic product design and analysis experience
Track record of design of complex electronics subsystems at the component/PCB level
Understanding of CPLD/FPGA design and ability to write VHDL code
Understanding of Microcontrollers and DSPs
Experience with the design of products for regulatory compliance (EMI, UL, FCC or CSA etc)
Ability to work independently with minimal guidance
Detail oriented and excellent communication skills
Skills and experience that would be beneficial
Experience with design and development of instrumentation products
Experience with lab testing of board level electronic designs
Understanding of interfaces: Ethernet, RS232, SPI, I2C, Motor, Position, Pressure and Motion Control
Experience with EMC; Analyzing results from EMC tests, finding root cause and providing counter measures
Working closely with embedded SW engineers
Experience using Electronics CAD (Mentor Graphics)
