We currently seek a Senior Electrical Engineer to work out of one of our New York (Ithaca, Albany, Farmingdale) or Massachusetts (Marlborough, Boston) offices. As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will have the opportunity to apply your design expertise on exciting and challenging projects. You will have the chance to mentor and impart knowledge to junior engineers and designers. At the same time, you will be working with one of the region's top education-related A/E design firms, gaining additional expertise and building on your career.

Our team of professionals is focused on public buildings including K-12 schools, regional governmental facilities, and international projects for USAID and other federal agencies. We provide innovative architectural design, building systems engineering, interior design, site design, civil design and 3-D Imaging services to clients regionally and globally. Designers engage both proven and innovative building methods and technologies that provide real-world solutions resulting in more efficient and sustainable projects


  • Develop and evaluate electrical system concepts and options to determine best design and engineering solutions for each project

  • Design of building electrical systems including power distribution, lighting, emergency power, fire alarm, security, television, telephone and computer network systems

  • Perform design calculations and develop/prepare technical specifications and drawings

  • Perform site visits to evaluate existing systems or to inspect electrical systems work during construction

  • Communicate effectively and coordinate/meet with project teams, senior staff members, project managers, clients and other parties

  • Act as lead electrical engineer on projects, mentoring junior staff in developing contract documents, cost estimates, technical specifications, and other relevant documents


  • Bachelor's Degree in electrical engineering or relevant field

  • Minimum of 8 years of related work experience specifically with electrical systems for buildings

  • Experience working in Architectural/Engineering consulting firm desired

  • Experience working on K-12 School projects and/or Federal projects is a plus

  • Licensed PE (Professional Engineer)

  • Knowledgeable of AutoCAD and Revit/BIM with working knowledge of MS Office

Duties: * Conduct product design control activities for new and sustaining product development efforts * Support risk analysis activities, including design and process FMEA * Support Process/Design Validation/Verification activities, including software validation and IQ/OQ/PQ activities * Support Design Engineering in the creation of Design History and Technical Files * Interact with third-party test houses that conduct compliance testing of IPG products * Assist regulatory department with FDA, CE, and other regulatory submissions * Perform all other essential duties as assigned * 3-5 years of experience with engineering and development of Class II electro-mechanical medical devices * Knowledge of Design Controls and Risk Management practices, regulations and standards, such as FDA QSR's, ISO 13485, ISO 14971, IEC 60601, 60825, and 62366, is preferred * Supporting medical device compliance testing (e.g. EMC, EMI, IEC) with external test houses, such as TUV an Intertek * Maintenance of technical design documentation, such as design specifications, verification/validation protocols, and DFMEA/PFMEA. * Working knowledge of advanced statistical methods (e.g., hypothesis testing, DOE, ANOVA, R&R studies, capability, tolerance interval analysis, power and sample size determinations, etc.), including statistical software tools, such as Minitab, is preferred * Experience with lasers and optical technologies desired, but not necessary * Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel Education Required: * Bachelor's Degree in electrical engineering or similar engineering field Personal Requirements: * Excellent oral and written communication, and interpersonal skills * Must be able to interact with customers, consultants, and suppliers * Ability to work in an environment with competing priorities is necessary * Must be able to work in a cross-functional team environment This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a "US Person" as defined by 22C.F.R. §120.15 are required.
