As part of an R&D project team, the Senior Electrical Engineer owns the design of a complete module, circuit board, or sub-assembly, from conception to design and verification. He / She work at a senior position and ensure that the project progresses in the defined manner. With his/her expert knowledge, also provides guidance to other engineers on their technical issues, engages in design reviews and help resolves the most complex problems.


  • BSEE Degree

  • 8 years of engineering experience, or comparable experience

  • Strong organizational and communication skills

  • Proficient problem solving skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with others in a team environment

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and applicable Engineering Software

  • Experience in the medical device industry and FDA Regulations is preferred

  • Experience with project management is preferred

  • 0 years working in cross functional teams consisting of discipline specific engineers, or comparable experience

Preferred Experience:

  • Design of multiple circuit boards with embedded processors (ARM is preferred) that were produced in medium to high volume (5,000 to 1,000,000 boards per year) with at least one of the designs running a RTOS, Linux, or Windows CE.

  • Experience working with schematics (DxDesigner), layouts (Mentor Graphics Xpedition), design analysis (Mentor Graphics HyperLynx)

  • Experience with digital design and basic software development for testing hardware designs.

  • Experience with documenting designs and analysis per FDA certification process including hardware requirements, hardware detailed design, DFMEA, Risk Analysis, and testing requirements.

  • Experience designing communication interfaces between circuit boards including, CAN, USB, SPI, I2C, LVDS, and display boards.

  • Experience interfacing both analog and digital sensors to embedded processors including air pressure, temperature, load cells, current measurement, and others.

  • Experience designing DC to DC switching power supplies.

  • Experience with designing for radiated emissions, ESD, cost, reliability, 10 years of production with limited obsolesce, and DFM

As part of a R&D sustaining project team, the senior systems engineer (SE) will be responsible for the system design and impact analysis of changes being made to complex medical devices. A senior SE focuses on understanding the customer needs; creates/modifies product functional/performance requirements and architecture necessary to meet those needs; evaluates constraints and makes trade off decisions; creates/modifies system design requirements and supports the development/modification of the module level design requirements; leads the product safety and security risk management activities including DFMEA's; supports the identification of technical risks and mitigations. The senior SE works in close collaboration with the project manager and other functional team members to ensure the project/product success. The senior SE provides guidance to other engineers on technical issues, engages in design reviews, and help resolves complex problems. The senior SE will support/drive initiatives in systems engineering methodology, best practices, and continuous improvement in R&D processes and projects. This includes areas such as the use of model based systems engineering, Matlab, Simulink, SysML, Speedgoat, and DOORS. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Supports design change impact analysis and conducts the systems engineering deliverables for design changes. * Supports product and DHF updates for regulatory changes. * Identifies technical problems, provides innovative, creative solutions; shares technical knowledge with team. * Incorporates business, market, industry and competitive knowledge into technical solutions that can be readily adapted to changes in technology and/or clinical use. * Generates alternatives and takes reasonable risks while solving technical problems. * Completes detailed, high quality technical documentation to capture and communicate designs. * Seeks knowledge of the business, market, industry and competitive environment. * Uses existing tools and best practices to report and track product and process metrics. * Challenges project teams and established work processes and proactively finds creative methods to reach desired performance levels * Informs others proactively about developments or issues that affect their work, and their ability to meet commitments. * Proficient in systems engineering tools such as DOORS, Matlab, Simulink, SysML, System Composer. * Deep knowledge in multiple functions making up complex systems -electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, software, materials, and wireless connectivity. * Other duties may be assigned.
