As an engineer at Burns & McDonnell, you will be a key part of our nationwide team. Burns & McDonnell will provide you on-the-job training, technical mentorship, and personal development as you support the following projects:
Job Responsibilities
Leads the electrical design of projects from the conceptual phase through design completion.
Partners with Project Managers to research, design, and compile project related data.
Applies the subject matter expertise of commonly used electrical concepts, practices, codes, and procedures within the electrical engineering services industry.
Performs field inspections, measurements, or calculations for public and private clients.
Leads the creation of project deliverables including but not limited to device configurations, network architecture diagrams, and specifications.
Utilizes innovative tools such as Geographic Information Systems (GIS), 3D scanning, and model-based design.
Modifies and reviews construction drawings and client presentations for a variety of projects primarily related, but not limited, to electric utilities.
Meets and corresponds with clients or outside personnel to develop relationships with key client points of contact.
Performs design quality reviews.
All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program. and 7 years electrical engineering experience. EPC project experience preferred.
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or related Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited program and successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam. and 7 years electrical engineering experience. EPC project experience preferred.
Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering and 6 years electrical engineering experience. EPC project experience preferred.
Expert knowledge in standard engineering techniques and procedures. Strong knowledge of electrical equipment design ANSI and IEEE Standards. Strong computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Experience with leading the discipline design for large projects and delegating work tasks to team members. Ability to lead execution of work and resolve issues in a team environment.
Demonstrated critical thinking skills, ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment.
Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization and problem-solving skills.
Ability to perform quality reviews for detailed engineering documents and specifications.
Ability to travel.
Professional Engineer (PE) License Preferred
