Raytheon IIS is a world leader in air traffic sensors and automation systems, responsible for providing air traffic tools to Air Navigation Service Providers (ANSP) in the US and abroad. We have an exciting opportunity for a Technical Support Engineer with a strong networking background to join our Hardware and Infrastructure (HW&I) team implementing the next generation Air Traffic Control (ATC) and Weather Data Reporting systems, as well as providing support to existing fielded systems. The position is located in Marlborough, MA.
This position is for an Electrical Engineer who will work with Product Leads and other team members on a variety of tasks related to the design and development of systems using Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) products. Tasks will include: network design; research and selection of network, server/workstation and other COTS hardware; network configuration definition; system prototyping and integration in the lab; deployment & field support; and functioning as a valuable member of the team.
The successful candidate will be an innovator and a self-starter, able to complete tasks given minimal direction and goals, and possess good technical aptitude and people skills. They will enjoy being part of our team, working with engineers in other disciplines and understand the multiple facets of a successful system deployment and deployment. The candidate must possess strong critical thinking skills and must be able to follow established processes. They must also have experience meeting system requirements, schedule deadlines, and project budgets. For the right candidate, this is a growth position providing the opportunity for continued development of advanced, applied networking skills for safety critical systems.
Experience with taking a system design concept from the block diagram or requirements level and developing a complete network design and then verifying the network design via integration and test plans and activities
Demonstrated knowledge and practice developing and implementing computing, networking, and information technology infrastructure through a rigorous design process
Experience working in a lab environment and operating standard test equipment including network analyzers, network emulators, and network data capture tools, etc.
Practice with troubleshooting new and legacy networking hardware and protocols in support of system sustainment
System level hardware integration and troubleshooting skills
Experience collaborating in development with hardware engineering disciplines, supply chain, suppliers, field engineering, on-site installation and trades, and Customers to develop and deliver safety critical systems
Effective communication skills, both oral and written as well as thorough knowledge of all Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Visio, Outlook, and PowerPoint)
Willingness to support occasional domestic travel and potential international travel
Current or in-progress computing/networking certification(s) (e.g. CCNA, AWS, CISSP)
General knowledge of Solaris, Linux, and Windows operating systems
Experience with ATC or weather system hardware
Proven innovator of new and emerging technologies
Experience working in a multi-disciplined agile environment practicing Scrum or Kanban
Interest and capability in task and team leadership, including: leading teams of 2 to 5 engineers on a common task or group of tasks; managing to a schedule and budget; keeping internal customers advised of status and participating in strategic decisions on planning and execution; estimating and planning new work; a desire to advance along a team leadership track
Existing security clearance or the ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Secret security clearance
Required Education: A Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum of 6 years or prior relevant experience
