Senior Electrical Engineer (Epowertrain)

Identify design/development leverage opportunities. Optimize systems through simulation. Conduct trade-off analysis using key metrics (performance, TCO, R&D investment). Complete detailed system design activities, in concert with component design owners.

Support development builds and validation. Troubleshoot electric powertrain systems to resolve electrical and mechanical component and system challenges. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering or related field with 10 years’ relevant product (machine, system, or component) development experience. Master’s/PhD in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering or related field with 8 years’ experience. REQUIRED SKILLS:

Ability to interrogate existing system schematics and develop new electrical system layouts. Creation of detailed electrical schematics, leveraging industry and developed standards. Ability to apply principles of electrical theory to electric powertrain design.

Experience with design and simulation tools/software. Experience in performance analysis and simulation at machine or system level. Experience with electric drive systems design, modeling and/or simulation (using tools such as Matlab, Simulink, etc.). Experience testing of electrical components, systems, and machines.

Electric or mechanical drivetrain systems experience (design or simulation). Motor / generator systems experience (design or simulation). Power electronics / power conversion systems and controls experience (design or simulation). Power distribution design experience, including selection of protective components. Hydraulic system design or simulation experience. Machine or systems control development / validation experience.

SOFT SKILLS REQUIRED: Strong collaboration and communication skills to efficiently work with process partners and internal customers. Experience mentoring less experienced engineers / team members.
