Position Overview

Seeking aSenior Electrical Engineer tocontribute to new platform development within Siemens Healthineers MolecularDiagnostics Business located in Berkeley, CA. Must be comfortable in a fastpaced start-up environment and capable of integrating requirements from thevarious stakeholders and have ability to balance the needs of cost, quality andtime-to-market. Contributions are expected at the individual level. The candidate must be able to hit the groundrunning and begin producing production worthy simulations and designs withlittle guidance from day one.

Responsibilities

The SeniorElectrical Engineer is responsible for defining, designing, developing,testing, and supporting new PCBAs, Firmware and cable harnesses using Altium,Mentor Graphics, and Visio. This role will report to the Electrical EngineeringTeam manager.

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education,and Experience

  • Bachelor Degree in engineering or physics with a track record ofcontributing to successful products.

  • 5-10 years of system integration experience, specifically embeddedsystems with electronics, firmware, and software.

  • Extensive low-level firmware development including device drivers,real-time control, and hardware abstraction layer (HAL) code.

  • Analog and Digital (Mixed signal) EE design experience at thecomponent, PCB, and system level (transimpedance amplifiers, LEDs, PMTs,Lasers, CMOS sensors , current drivers, embedded RT control, MCUs, DSP, CPLD,FPGA)

  • Ability to independently take complex subsystem designs fromconcept and specification through schematic capture, BOM, layout, MFR, test,and bring up developing all designs, cables, and FW along the way

  • Experience designing and assembling components and cable harnessesfor highly integrated production level robotic systems (i.e. motion, fluidics,optics, and thermal control).

Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education,and Experience

  • FPGA/CPLD implementation and algorithm review experience

  • Experience in RT-qPCR and sample preparation instrumentationdevelopment - through education or experience.

  • Experience in development of products in a life sciences orregulated (CE-IVD, FDA) diagnostic environment.

  • Participate in FMEA, worst case analysis andverification/validation of product/design

  • Submission to regulatory compliance to UL/CSA/TUV/CE withexperience with safety and emissions testing such as IEC61326 and IEC61010,IEC60601, IEC62304 etc.

  • Classical and modern control theory applied to data acquisitionand laboratory system/subsystem control.

  • Communication protocols/technologies such as CANopen and CAN BUS , I2C and SPI

  • Analog and/or digital control of - temperature, pressure, flow,mass, current, light, force, charge & pH.

This is a project based position. This position will be located in or near Oakland, CA (Bay Area) and will cover project sites in Northern California. The Electrical Field Engineer position includes on-site Quality Control (QC) Assessments and oversight of Electrical Subcontractors who will be "As-founding" (i.e. field verifying) Electrical Schematics, Single Line Diagrams, and Equipment Lists for natural gas transmission facilities such as Compressor, Metering, and Autovalve Stations. Tasks May Include: (Essential roles, responsibilities and activities a candidate may expect) * Conduct On-site QC and oversight of Electrical Subcontractors who will be "As-founding" (i.e. field verifying) Electrical Schematics, Single Line Diagrams, and Equipment Lists for natural gas transmission facilities such as Compressor, Metering, and Autovalve Stations. QC any existing drawings that are red-lined or new drawings that may need to be created on-site by the Subcontractors during the As-founding efforts. * Act as DNVGL's onsite safety representative and ensure all of the clients Safety and Operational Procedures are adhered to by the Subcontractors * Possible desktop QC review of new vendor Electrical drawings created during the As-founding project for each station Position Qualifications Requirements * BS Electrical Engineering * A minimum of 3 years of Electrical Engineering work experience (5-7 years preferred). *Must have field experience * Familiarity with Electrical Power systems, Panels, and devices. PLC's, Power Distribution Panels, Scada Panels, RTU Cabinets Terminal Blocks, Control Panels, and Electrical Equipment such as Actuators, PIT's, VFD's, power generators, etc.. * Familiarity with Electrical arrangements, nomenclature, symbology, protection functions, and operation of electrical systems * Strong Familiarity in relevant industry codes and standards * Experience in working in transmission facilities such as Compressor Stations is Preferred * Qualified Electrical Professional (QEW) certification is preferred * Travel requirement (75% of the year) * Must possess a valid driver's license, have your own automobile to travel to job site.
