As a Senior Electrical Designer, you will be at the heart of coordinating and delivering design documents for highly complex facilities around the world. Come be a part of a dynamic multidiscipline team in a strong and growing industry! You will have the opportunity to lead teams in coordinating work, guide and mentor junior engineers and designers, and assist our engineering team in delivery of designs for building power systems, including medium and low voltage power systems, lighting, grounding, and process heating systems, standby generator and UPS systems for critical power needs, and site underground pathways. You will also interact directly with clients and contractors to support design concept development and ongoing construction activities. The minimum qualifications for this position are:

  • High school graduate or equivalent required

  • 8 years' experience in design of building electrical systems

  • Experience directing teams and leading design delivery

  • Working knowledge of NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code) Proficiency in AutoCAD

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and experience:

  • Associate's Degree or higher in Design or Engineering field

  • 15 years' experience in design of building electrical systems

  • Experience in design of semiconductor or mission critical facilities

  • Strong desire to teach, motivate and empower team members

What Youd Be Doing As a Electrical Designer, you will work as part of a multi-discipline engineering and design team on heavy industrial projects. You will be responsible for designing the power and control systems for these facilities. * Under supervision of Senior Electrical Designers, prepare electrical drawings including one-line diagrams, grounding plans, area classification plans, control panel layouts, bills of material, wiring diagrams, motor schematics, and cable tray & conduit routing plans * Prepare these sets of drawings for review by Senior Designers and Engineering staff * Become familiar with industry standards as well as client and Norwest Engineering drawings standards * Effectively interact within a multi-discipline team of engineers & designers to meet project objectives * Become familiar with mechanical, structural and civil drawings packages * Effectively manage time spent on multiple projects simultaneously * Travel (domestic) may be required up to 5% of the time for site investigations, design reviews and construction inspection and coordination * Must be motivated to seek continuous improvement What Makes You a Good Candidate * Drafting knowledge acquired through college, vocation and technical school training, resulting in an Associate's degree or equivalent * Extensive knowledge of AutoCAD, both in 2D and 3D environments * Basic knowledge of document control practices and systems * Intermediate familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel * Ability to handle sensitive information in a confidential manner * 1-2 years of drafting experience in the completion of projects in an industrial setting * Basic knowledge of electrical systems and the ability to read electrical one-line diagrams and plan drawings * Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States at the time of application for employment- Norwest Engineering does not sponsor employment visas Norwest Engineering Portland OR
