Job Summary:

This Senior Controls Hardware & Mechatronics Engineer position will develop and maintain electrical modules and components for Thermo King NA/EMEA. This role will provide electrical component engineering support for Thermo King engineering platform teams and will also offer the right candidate the opportunity to utilize their current skills and develop new ones by working on a diverse set of technologies including analog & digital electronic devices, controllers, sensors, motors, starters, alternators, generators connection systems, wiring harnesses, and power conversion products.

Core Job Responsibilities (others may be added):

  • Manage projects as a supervised Lead Engineer and Project Manager.

  • Develop electrical components, sub-systems and systems for reliability, durability, performance, safety and cost.

  • Lead and support the development of requirements, technical designs, DFMEA and DVP&R.

  • Prepare complete schedules for assigned projects. Drive project execution.

  • Apply systematic problem solving skills to define issues, identify root causes, develop, qualify, and implement corrective actions in a timely manner.

  • Analyze, condense and present test data/results.

  • Maintain orderly project records. Know, document and communicate project status as required both verbally and in-written form.

  • Release engineering component prints in product life-cycle management system.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and at least 5 years of electrical component/system design or electrical testing/qualification work experience is required.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering is preferred.

Key Competencies:

  • Transport Refrigeration or HVAC engineering experience desired but not required.

  • Hardware design and/or integration experience with controllers, sensors, power electronics, motors, alternators, starters and generators.

  • Proven problem-solving ability, experience with standard analysis and reporting tools (DFMEA, A3, FEA, 8D, Fishbone/5-whys etc.) preferred.

  • Experience with LTspice and Mathworks tools (Matlab, Simulink, Stateflow) helpful but not mandatory.

  • Simulate and test machine/structure/system operation.

  • Great verbal and written communication skills.

  • Proven ability to develop strong working relationships with cross-functional teams, (program manager, manufacturing, service, training, supply management, product management, sales, suppliers, etc.)

  • Ability to read electrical schematics and circuit diagrams.

  • Proficient with Oscilloscope, Spectrum Analyzer, Multi-meter, PC based diagnostic and simulation tools.

  • Proven ability in delivering assigned tasks on-time while meeting reliability and cost goals.

  • Proficient with MS Office applications (Excel, Project).
