Who provides the know-how to protect Dell's data, tools and information systems? It's our Database Admin team within Information Technology. As a Database Engineer, you will focus on Elasticsearch to design, build, maintain and scale our platform. As a member of our team, you will be challenged to solve unique and interesting problems that have impact on keeping our clients safe from cyber security threats.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement ELK (Elasticsearch, Logstash and Kibana) stack solutions both in Cloud and on-prem

  • Ability upgrade ELK stack, troubleshoot and ability apply OS patches

  • Ability to create custom monitoring solution using opensource tools

  • Ability to automate the operational procedures in shell / python / ansible / chef

  • Willing to be perform operational support (24X7) on-call duties in rotation

  • Contribute to team design discussions with detailed technical information

  • Develop code with quality, scalability and extensibility

  • We operate in a proactive management environment vs reactive

  • Ability to work independently and willing to work with team members spread across the globe

  • Identify strategic/tactical solutions and provides risk assessments and recommendations

  • Extensive skills in Elasticsearch tuning/optimizing based on application needs

Essential Requirements

  • 8 years experience with 2+ years experience with Elasticsearch Stack

  • 6 years Unix experience

  • 2 years experience working in a AWS environment preferred

  • Expert in Elasticsearch ELK (Elasticsearch, Logstash and Kibana) platform

  • Ideally 3+ years of experience and someone who has built an enterprise level ES solution before, preferably more than once
  • Experience upgrading Elasticsearch versions and OS patches

  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast paced, team-oriented environment

  • Expertise in working , troubleshooting with Prometheus and Grafana

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience

  • Expert level with automation tools, as well as scripting languages such as Bash, Perl, Python, Unix

  • Well-spoken and articulate, combining attention to detail with excellent writing abilities

Desirable Skills

  • Familiarity with Hadoop and RDBMS is a big a plus

  • Experience with Cassandra is a big plus

  • Experience with highly scaled distributed and mission critical environments

  • Bachelor degree in a technical field such as Computer Science, or equivalent work experience

  • RedHat certification

  • RHCSA or RHSE - or equivalent Red Hat Linux experience
