The Senior EEG Technologist will:
Confirm physician order in medical record for all inpatients, and written prescription by ordering physician for outpatients, prior to performance of studies.
Place procedure test order in the EMR for all outpatients and completes order when test has been finished.
Explain testing procedure to patient prior to performance of study.
Complete written log of all pertinent patient information.
Log entries into Laboratory journal subsequent to each study.
Utilize log in the completion of monthly statistical reports.
Inform medical secretary of any patients who fail to keep their appointment.
Prepare department chart for the filing of completed record.
Confirm or enter orders into EMR Maintains adequate inventory of supplies in order to operate in an efficient manner.
Coordinate transportation of patients to and from the lab.
Maintain equipment in proper working condition.
Perform diagnostic studies as ordered by physician.
Ensure all procedures are performed based on established standards, demonstrates competency in performing all procedures within scope of practice, as appropriate to the ages of the patients growth and development through the life cycle factors and an understanding of the range of treatment needed by these patients.
Perform Intra-Operative EEG monitoring in the surgical suite during epilepsy surgical cases when required.
Requirements:
Graduate from an accredited school of EEG technology or equivalent experience required.
Knowledge of EEG testing procedures, methods and techniques required to conduct clinical tests, maintain equipment and records, etc.
Two to three years of related experience preferred. ABRET (American Board of Registered Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists) certified or certification-eligible for 'R EEG T' is preferred.
Ability to perform studies on all age groups from neonatal to geriatric.
High level of interpersonal skills to interact with patients, deal effectively with medical, nursing, technical and other staff.
Light typing ability and computer skills to produce simple reports, letters, memorandum, records, etc.
Work requires standing and walking 50% of the time and occasional pushing of low built equipment cart.
Flexible, to accommodate changes in schedule when additional coverage is needed.
BLS Certification required, as approved by the American Heart Association.
