Senior Editor, XXL
XXL, Townsquare Media's hip-hop site, is looking for a new Senior Editor for both the website and the magazine. In this role, the Senior Editor will be writing and editing content, while utilizing their strong relationships in the music industry. This role is based out of our NYC office. Overseeing a team of writers and junior staff
Coming up with stories and ideas
Overseeing release of new music and new artists
Using contacts and relationships to get interviews
Assigning out and editing stories
Attending events and concerts
Writing stories and doing interviews
3-4 years of experience writing and editing for established music sites and publications
Experience assigning stories to writers
Strong writing, re-writing and editing skills
Heavy experience covering hip-hop music
Extensive hip-hop knowledge
Ability to multi-task and have effective communication skills
Must be creative and able to come up with story ideas
Strong organization skills, time management and a team player
Good research skills and a good ear for new talent
