The successful candidate will act as the subject matter expert within the organization and champion the use of data to help drive strategic decisions regarding the e-commerce business. The role requires a candidate with a commitment to continued learning and the ability to act proactively to improve web strategies and procedures. The role requires a strong understanding of both the customer experience and the operational data collected for optimizing the experience.

Analyze: Complete short-term and mid-term analyses to answer ad-hoc business questions and/or help inform longer term strategic direction.

To complete these analyses, the senior analyst will need to work on data acquisition, data preparation including stitching together data from disparate sources to tell a comprehensive story, and presentation of key findings. Deliverables may take the shape of email communications or presentations and interested audiences will range in seniority from peers to executives.

Data Collection: Work with the technical development teams to support the implementation of new data collection.

Define and document business requirements. Solutions could span pixels placed on the webstore or backend message streams. Complete user-acceptance testing to confirm that the code fulfills the requirements once the solutions have been developed and passed initial QA testing.

Reporting Solution Design: Serve as the "product" owner of reports, working to drive adoption, usage and application to business processes.

Conceive new functionality & capabilities in the reporting to increase visibility or improve ease of use. Define requirements for new reports for the technical development teams thru collaboration with business stakeholders. Develop reporting prototypes and self-service reporting environments.

Client Liaison: Serve as the web analytics single point of contact for various teams within the business.

Lead formal and informal training sessions with client groups to enable clients to answer questions via self-service tools. Answer ad hoc business and/or support questions.

Project Management: Oversee the timelines for analytics projects spanning numerous resources.

Identify upcoming obstacles that could impact late or incomplete deliverables. Escalate issues to leadership for decision making.

Bachelor's Degree - Marketing, Economics, Finance
5-7 years of experience

Databases / Queries, eCommerce Business, Internet, Data Analysis

This position may provide leadership to Financial Analysts or Finance Rotation Program Trainees. The Role You'll Play: Financial Analysis * Work with complex, driver-based, flexible financial models to provide scenario and what-if analytics. * Execute ad-hoc analytics to support short and mid-term strategies. Communicate financial and operations findings to Management, including recommendations and next steps. * Participate in cross-functional special projects where a Finance perspective is required or requested by Management; review and communicate financial impacts of business decisions. * Effectively message via PowerPoint and graphical scorecards/dashboards. Budgeting & Forecasting * Assist in the preparation of the annual eCommerce planning targets and budget. Scope may include components of sales, gross profit, operating expenses, administrative expenses and capital expenditures. * Partner with business leaders to update the forecast. Ensure that areas of risk and opportunity are identified and captured. Analyze and proactively address forecast accuracy issues. * Analyze variances vs budget and historical results. Identify key drivers and provide explanations to management. Utilize variances to identify areas for future ad hoc analysis. Reporting/Monthly Close * Compile, validate and summarize eCommerce financial information. * Complete management reporting in support of our financial close cycle and quarterly earnings announcements. * Summarize and publish financial results to Management. Coaching & Developing * Serve as the technical/subject matter expert for team members. * Provide indirect supervision and mentoring to Financial Analysts and/or Financial Rotational Program Trainees. This may include but is not limited to business concepts, process overviews and systems training. * Review executive-level deliverables for completeness, accuracy and summary/analysis of results. * Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting or related business field * Five to seven years of experience * Prefer knowledge of MS Excel, PeopleSoft Financials and Hyperion * Ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment * Self-motived with critical attention to detail and deadlines * Strong collaborative skills and ability to work within a team * strong verbal and written communication skills Dick's Sporting Goods Pittsburgh PA
