MetroStar Systems is looking for a Senior Systems Engineer to provide server implementation and operational support for a Peace Corps Modernization Project.

  • You have a minimum of 10 years specialized systems engineering experience with a BA/BS. Alternatively, 8 years of specialized experience with a Master's or above

  • You have 5+ years' experience with Microsoft Dynamics and have performed platform upgrades

  • You have experience with Windows Server 2012/2016 administration and active director

  • You have experience creating scripts in PowerShell to automate administration

  • You have experience with Microsoft SQL Server

  • You have a Microsoft Dynamics Certification (MCSA/MCSE)

  • You have experience with IIS, .Net application deployment and administration

  • You have experience migrating to Dynamics 365

What your day will look like:

  • You'll assist with the documentation, deployment and administration of IT systems

  • You'll assist with the requirements, implementation plan and Standard Operating procedures (SOPs) associated with system implementation and operation

  • You'll draft recommended upgrade paths for Dynamics CRM, including cloud adoption

  • You'll analyze IT issues, evaluate alternatives and make logical recommendations based on findings

  • You'll define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw conclusions

  • You'll create and maintain operational scripts (i.e. batch, shell, VB, PowerShell)

This position will be located in Washington, DC. The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman's Department of State (DOS) Consular Affairs Enterprise Infrastructure Operations (CAEIO) Program, for the Bureau of Consular Affairs (CA). This initiative is intended to provide IT Operations and Maintenance to modernized and legacy networks, applications, and databases supporting CA services globally. Roles and Responsibilities may include leading teams that: * Engineer to support LAN network optimization and standardization at DOS facilities. * Coordinate through CA/CST with IRM to engineer upgrades to WAN links connecting CONUS and OCONUS Consular facilities. * Engineer and implement high availability load balancing, and dynamic service health checks to maximize availability of all public-facing websites in the Public DMZs. * In conjunction with IRM, CA/CST's network service provider, engineer, implement, and monitor denial of service detection. * Lead the support of upgrades required to connect partner agencies to the CA IT network infrastructure. * Design enhancements and upgrades to systems for potential future cloud integration/migration. * Develop, document and maintain standards and procedures manuals, and performance management procedures that meet CA/CST's requirements. * Perform network component tuning to maintain optimum performance in accordance with change management procedures. * Operates and maintains network environments that support connectivity for Consular Affairs information technology systems. * Works with remote CA sites and partner organizations to establish and maintain secure WAN/LAN connectivity. * Participate in the implementation, and troubleshooting of Firewall Rules for networking devices and application communications and connectivity. * Participate in Configuration Change Boards. * Diagram, document, and maintain configuration management artifacts for Network and Firewall Environments. * Installs, configures, troubleshoots and maintains routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and API gateways per established DOS policies and procedures as required. * Monitors, identifies, and manages network performance issues such as over-utilization, latency, CPU utilization, IDS/IPS, memory allocation, packet loss, and availability. * Performs root cause analysis and documents all existing and potential network/firewall problems and outages associated with corrective actions. * Ensures that all problems/incidents are logged into the Ticket Management System and managed. * Analyzes network equipment logs to identify trends and problems and maximize network performance through continuous monitoring and troubleshooting. * Participate in planning meetings to execute proactive system upgrades and new technology implementations. Basic Qualifications: * Bachelors degree and 5 years experience in network/firewall administration or High School Diploma and 9 years experience in network/firewall administration. * Must have experience in one or more of the following disciplines: Cisco networking devices, Palo Alto or Stonegate Firewalls, or f5 Load Traffic Managers. * Active Top Secret clearance. Interim clearance may be acceptable. Preferred Qualifications: Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration: * Current network certifications from Cisco, Palo Alto, CompTIA, or F5. * Experience with configuring and troubleshooting Palo Alto or Stonegate firewall devices. * Knowledge in configuring, monitoring, and troubleshooting BIG-IP F5 devices. * Knowledge of network tools such as Panorama, Splunk, NeuralStar, Niksun NetOmni, Solarwinds, Wireshark, or Grafana. * Experience working in a Department of State operations center. * Background demonstrating leading projects for improving LAN/WAN/Firewall infrastructure, implementing new capabilities, and/or remediating problem areas. * Background demonstrating the ability to operate effectively within a complex, dynamic environment. * Knowledge in principals of networking such as TCP/IP, SNMP, IPSEC, and SSH. * Knowledge in configuration and troubleshooting of Cisco routers and switches. * Knowledge in configuring and troubleshooting firewall systems. * Knowledge in analyzing and interpreting network/firewall monitoring logs, rules, and outputs to create actionable remediating tasks.
