GlobalGiving, the first and largest global crowdfunding community for nonprofits, is looking for a thorough, analytical, and motivated Senior Disbursement Associate to execute our global disbursement process. Getting funds to our nonprofit partners in 170 countries in a timely and accurate manner is vital to fulfilling our mission of accelerating community-led change.

This position reports to the Operations Developer and will help ensure GlobalGivings disbursement processes run smoothly, efficiently, and optimally. This person should have excellent attention to detail and accuracy while also demonstrating clear and effective written communications skills. Technical aptitude is required to use systems that handle problems at scale. This person will also aid the operations team with other clerical and bookkeeping tasks to ensure that donations are applied appropriately and our operations are audit-ready.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage a disbursement process that annually sends upwards of $40M via 17,000+ transfers to 3,000+ nonprofits worldwide
  • Reconcile and validate over 300,000 contributions annually via online and offline sources across multiple financial accounts
  • Handle fast-paced and technical communications with customers to help ensure our nonprofit partners receive payments in a timely and convenient fashion
  • Identify, research, and solve new issues caused by changes in banking requirements across countries to which GlobalGiving is disbursing
    Identify issues related to data, processes, and systems; recommend solutions to optimize disbursement experience for nonprofit partners
  • Ensure that disbursement-reliant tasks are scheduled and executed in a timely fashion
  • Collaborate with Operations team to document policies and procedures, and create workflow diagrams
  • Work with the Operations Fellow to process company matching donations to our nonprofit partners
  • Handle returned disbursements and the related customer service and problem resolution
  • Support other related bookkeeping, administrative, and analytical tasks

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree and/or 1-5 years of accounting, business administration, or operations work experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Strong written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Superior organizational and time management skills
  • Excel, Access, SQL, experience desired; proven ability and willingness to learn technical skills needed to operate at scale is a must
  • Demonstrated comfort and enthusiasm working in an analytical, fast-paced environment
  • Ability to prioritize effectively, managing competing demands according to deadlines with uncompromising quality
  • Commitment to the GlobalGiving mission and core values, a sense of humor, and a high degree of patience and flexibility
  • Python and Git/GitHub experience is a plus
