Duties and Responsibilities: Design standardized transportation safety policies, training, campaigns, and programs to reduce corporate and human capital risk, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws. Design standardized transportation compliance reports and audit protocols to ensure compliance with federal/state/local laws, driver compliance with company regulations and ensuring FMCSA registrations are maintained.

Provide leadership, direction and subject matter expertise for transportation safety and compliance (including driver minimum qualification standards, driver qualification files, DOT drug and alcohol program, transportation safety methods, training courses etc.). Partner and collaborate with all functional leaders to develop and manage transportation safety and compliance resources, projects, and business decisions. Create a network of internal (human resources, talent acquisition, supply chain, finance, legal, corporate claims, and analytics) and external alliances (industry partners, State safety groups) to develop and implement transportation safety & compliance policies, programs, procedures, standards, training, and processes Design and execute injury prevention programs/initiatives to motivate and influence the creation of a world class transportation safety culture and minimize injury risk. Analyze and identify trends that increase injury and accident frequency/severity; develop and direct the implementation of training programs using the appropriate media.

Support claims programs (workers compensation, motor vehicle, property damage). Education Required: Bachelor's degree with major course work in EHS, Risk Management, Safety/Industrial/Environmental engineering, or a closely related field. Education Preferred:

Bachelor's degree with major course work in EHS, Risk Management, and/or MBA, or equivalent work experience. Experience Required: 10+ years of Federal and State Department of Transportation (DOT) related experience with large national or multi-national companies with multiple sites. Strong knowledge of applicable OSHA and FMCSA regulatory requirements.

Experience Preferred: Experience with vehicle video telematics solutions is highly preferred. Licenses/Certifications Preferred:

The following are highly desirable: Certification specializing in US Department of Transportation regulations. FMCSA certified instructor.

Certified Safety Professional (CSP). Technical Skills and Abilities: Excellent ability to develop and present business plans and strategies to influence company decision makers. Experience leading and motivating cross-functional and diverse teams in both matrix and non-matrix organization.

Ability to coordinate planning and collaboration with other business functions in a way that is mutually beneficial and drives continuous improvement. Ability to drive a strong transportation safety philosophy and implement programs designed to effectively change behavior and prevent injury using data- and research-driven methods. Ability to analyze and independently resolve a variety of difficult situations and problems using timely decision making.

Excellent analytical skills and interpersonal skills, ability to interact effectively with all levels of senior management, supervision, and employees. Actively drives performance and vehemently strives to strategically solve problems and follow projects through to completion. Significant project management skills required to ensure annual plans are executed at all levels. Adapts well to and initiates change in the organization. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to interact and influence effectively with all levels of management, employees, and customers and experience collaborating with union.

Physical Demands: The ability to sit, stand, drive, walk and use hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and telephone to talk and hear. The ability to frequently sit and reach with hands and arms.

The ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Travel Requirements: Must be able to travel to Sysco facilities up to 50% of the time.

Work Environment: Must be able to utilize office equipment such as desktop/notebook computers, copiers, printers, scanners, telephones, and calculators. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
