JOB TITLE: Senior Director, Tax
The Cooper Companies is looking for a Tax Director to join our Corporate Tax team headquartered in San Ramon, California. This role reports into the Senior Vice President of Finance and Tax (also CAO). In this role, you will be responsible for all aspects of the company's US federal and global direct tax compliance and planning, and the accounting for income taxes under US GAAP. Team includes a Senior Manager, Manager and two staff which will be reporting directly or indirectly to the Tax Director. Additionally, the Tax function includes a Senior Director of International, a tax manager based in the UK and a support function also in the UK.
Manage worldwide GAAP tax provision (federal and foreign) and ASC 740 accounting, including footnotes, disclosures, permanent/temporary differences, discrete items, rate reconciliation, inventory of deferred assets/liabilities, taxes payable and deferred roll forwards/reconciliations, valuation allowances, tax rates, return-to-provision adjustments, and tax journal entries.
Support review of tax compliance with respect to U.S. operations, tax credits, tax rates, return-to-provision analysis, tax compliance memos, monitoring worldwide tax compliance, SOX processes, and ensuring that all tax accounts in the financial statements are accurate.
Manage tax reserves (FIN 48 & FAS 5) and related disclosures with respect to U.S. operations, including monitoring the tax environment to ensure that the tax reserves are reasonable and lead any voluntary disclosures that may be required.
Responsible for providing forecasts and guidance with respect to U.S. and non-U.S. future effective tax rates and cash taxes.
Responsible for ensuring that all tax accounts/information is properly reflected in the financial statements, including income taxes payable, deferred assets/liabilities, provision for income taxes (current and deferred provision), tax adjustments in the statement of cash flows and stockholders' equity as well as coordination with the Company's auditors.
Assist with all tax audits with respect to U.S. operations and properly responding to all information document requests (IDRs). Also, responsible for reviewing all tax correspondence/inquiries received and responding
Responsible for monitoring the control environment and ensuring that all SOX controls and procedures are in place and operating effectively while ensuring no deficiencies from a tax perspective.
Support preparation of roadmaps for moving tax planning implementation into the income tax provision and compliance and by early-identifying issues and proposing solutions
Assist in the implementation of tax planning projects as well as project evaluations
Establish "best practices" and share information across the company
Assist in other tax related projects including M&A as requested by tax management
Liaison with operations on tax issues and accounting staff on tax accounting issues
Act in a lead role in assessing tax planning issues and work closely with SVP of Finance and Tax
Manage and mentor staffs, encourage a collaborative team atmosphere and mentoring staffs includes providing timely meaningful written and verbal feedback.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
12 to 15 years of experience with public accounting firm or multinational corporation
Experience with Tax provision software
