Job Summary
The incumbent is responsible for engaging with existing and new stakeholders to further the strategic interests and intent of the IEEE Standards Association.
This professional staff role reports directly to the IEEE SA managing director. The role will be horizontal in nature and expected to work cross-cuttingly within IEEE SA and the broader IEEE when necessary. This role requires a strategic and global perspective with a clear appreciation for the localization context.
Key Responsibilities
Increasing awareness of IEEE SA initiatives and standards that lead to mutually beneficial outcomes through outreach
Engaging in the extension of the IEEE SA aims and objectives to support its global engagement strategy
Partners on strategic engagements that aim to advance the desired outcomes
Delivers critical results directly, through regional or global engagements or through multi-party collaborations.
Supporting stakeholders in the development of standardization communities that effectively enable collaborative outcomes in scalable fashions across key domains and sectors.
Additional Responsibilities
Additionally, the candidate will develop/expand relationships with National Standards Bodies at the highest levels and ensure that the IEEE Standards Association planning processes best account for the inflections in its forward-looking plans. This role would aid in laying the foundation for the IEEE SA Leadership and other IEEE SA departments to better scale their offerings in a manner that results in sustainable and ongoing win-win outcomes.
In addition to expanding on NSB relations, this role will involve developing sustainable standardization communities around the world through creative approaches and through direct partnerships across the department.
This role will be measured by the ability to scale the outcomes and results associated with the IEEE SA and the development of active standards communities worldwide that can benefit from the IEEE SA's global standardization system. This will include measures associated with retention and growth of members, expansion of productive partnerships,
Education
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience Req
Master's or other advanced degree Pref
Work Experience
Demonstrated 15 years of experience working within the Standardization Ecosystem with direct engagement with its stakeholders
Previous Management experience required (10 years) with an emphasis on a coaching mindset
Skills and Requirements
A strong communicator at all levels within and outside of the organization
Multi-lingual with fluency in at least three languages (spoken)
Ability to travel up to 40%, and may require weekend travel
Must understand the local, regional and global geo-political contexts
Must be a doer who is accountable with a positive attitude and problem solving mindset that can collaborate and engage effectively
A leader that can be as much the point person as much as member of the team
