Job Description
The Senior Director, Site Activation and Strategy will lead the global start up team and be accountable for delivery of site activation across the Vertex portfolio. This will include responsibilities in the timeline, resourcing, and strategic planning to enable to successful delivery of all studies in start up at Vertex. As a people manager, they will have direct reports responsible for delivery with each region, they will also be a member of the GCO leadership structure.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Oversees Global site activation operations and ensure timelines are met in accordance with program and GCO goals
Develop long term strategies which will augment new technologies and working practices, enabling Vertex to enhance it's operating model to fit with a growing geographic foot print and landscape.
As a member of the GCO LT, provides strategic input into GCO and GMDA activities
Leads the Global Study start up management team and oversees resourcing requirements to deliver the Vertex portfolio
Reporting directly to the Vice President of Global Clinical Operations, would be a key leader for the execution of our global clinical operations strategy
Leads cross functional initiatives which support process improvements that advance the capabilities and innovation of the start up team and the wider organization
Provides strategic leadership to the expansion of global start up in existing and new territories, identifying key capabilities and country intelligence tools to support the company needs
Provides mentorship and support to enable team members to deliver key objectives and to ensure team members grow and develop essential skills to progress
Maintains role of executive sponsor for all site activation initiatives in GCO and maintain strong collaborations with GCO and GMDA functions
Knowledge and Skills:
Highly developed written and verbal communication skills across multiple regions and cultures
Proven strong business acumen
Excellent project management, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Extensive Global Clinical Operations experience in multiple therapeutic areas
Excellent understanding of Start up operations, site selection and feasibility
Experience in leading a global team and developing operational strategy
Advanced negotiation skills, with both internal and external parties
Flexible and able to work independently to manage work priorities and follow tasks through to completion, including navigating and removing critical roadblocks
Ability to work in a fast-paced, innovative environment while remaining flexible, proactive, resourceful, and efficient.
