We are looking for a qualified candidate to fill an immediate vacancy for a Sr. Director of Product Management. Reporting directly to the President of TA and as a member of the TA Business Committee, this individual will provide senior level leadership in the worldwide execution of the overall strategic plan of the materials testing product lines as it relates to the investigation, creation and implementation of the product management roadmaps for new and existing product and product line development. This position will be located in the New Castle, Delaware facility.
Typical tasks of the position include, but are not limited to
Oversee product management's creation of the new product vision for each chemical materials product line for transformation into high performing, reliable and cost-effective products to satisfy the market demand of our customers.
Leads new product definition in determining current and future direction of all product lines for the company's chemical materials business strategic plan.
Translate market trends and market drivers and competitive responses into customer needs and market requirements for technology-driven opportunities.
Manage the drafting of customer needs, product requirements and building of financial models to support new programs for these markets.
Oversee the investigation, definition, and creation of product roadmaps for each product and product line aligned according to the chemical materials vision defined in the strategic marketing planning and product development processes. This includes the prioritization of the products and product lines to be developed including collaboration with outside technologies.
Oversee all new product opportunities or enhancement of existing products and manages the activities of various groups through the phases of development from conception to production.
Ensure alignment of product management roadmaps with R&D product development schedules, manufacturing pre-production & production schedules and sales & marketing communications, all within the overall strategic marketing short and long-range plans including any planned M&A activity.
Applications Group & Services:
Oversee the Product Applications Support function in New Castle, Delaware which manages the overall product applications support to the external customer base as well as the internal field applications and sales teams.
Ensure the alignment of the customer applications support to the overall product and product line roadmaps and strategic plans.
Organizational Effectiveness Builds high performing focused teams of technical experts, analysts, managers, and administrators capable of consistently achieving company targets. Ensures team members understand what is expected of them and that they deliver the right business outcomes.
Establishes project goals and analyzes and adjusts as needed for the continual achievement of these goals in a timely and cost-efficient manner.
Builds, trains, develops and manages a world class product management and applications team capable of achieving the innovation necessary to keep TA Instruments at the forefront of the industry.
Communicates expectations, manages performance, coaches and develops organizational talent in order to enhance the employee satisfaction and overall results for TA.
Business Communication and Guidance Establishes a compelling vision and strategy to achieve strategic and financial objectives.
Provides strategic and operational leadership to the product management and applications groups.
Facilitates open dialogue to share knowledge with team members and encourages the exchange of information across all products and locations.
Motivates and energizes a widely diverse team of professionals to achieve goals and objectives for all product lines.
Participates as an active member of the TA Business Committee including providing time, resources, solutions, suggestions, and advice in all areas of the business to achieve the best overall success possible for the entire organization.
The successful candidate will have a combination of knowledge, skills, and experience that would include the following
Minimum of a Bachelors in Life Sciences or Engineering
MBA Degree preferred in Marketing, Management or other related field
10+ years of relevant industry experience (at least 5 years of which are in a management role), with a strong aptitude for electronic or electrical and mechanical systems, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Deep knowledge of the global materials testing markets with 10+ years of market specific experience within the fit of TA/Waters or related technologies and solutions.
Strong product management experience developing product roadmaps and product line plans in accordance with strategic marketing planning.
Demonstrated knowledge of developing customer needs, market requirements, product requirements and financial models.
Proven track record of managing project teams of professionals to innovative project completion successfully in terms of timelines, budgets, quality, performance and product reliability.
Knowledge and experience in project management techniques including the product development process, budgeting, forecasting and maintaining timelines, achieving technical deliverables and prioritizing and handling multiple projects simultaneously.
Ability to comprehend the scientific theories that guide the technical requirements of the instruments.
Demonstrated managerial and leadership skills including experience managing subordinate managers and organizations preferably with multiple locations.
Detail orientation to profitability with a demonstrated knowledge of the market and competition.
