What you'll do Viasat is now seeking a Senior Director of Product Test Engineering! In this role, the successful candidate will lead and influence the strategic direction of the Product Test Engineering (PTE) department.

You will be influencing and supporting the development of Viasat's broad portfolio of products to help prepare them for manufacturing through end of life. You will collaborate closely with key business customers and engineering leadership across Viasat's business segments. In this role, you are accountable for providing vision and roadmaps your internal products that support these goals, including the evolution of our Common Core System, which serves as the building blocks for our standardized test equipment (STE), the STE used to test our products in manufacturing, and lifecycle of these assets.

You will set goals for your team while meeting key manufacturing landmarks to ensure revenue targets. You will work closely with other leaders in Corporate Quality and Operations, including Manufacturing, Reliability Engineering, Supply Chain, and Program Management. You will accelerate the performance of your team and build positive relationships with key partners.

Your performance will be measured by your ability to efficiently deliver and maintain scalable manufacturing capacity for Viasat's products. Your close partnership with Viasat's Corporate Quality department will ensure our products, including our test assets, meet or exceed Viasat's standards for quality and our design processes align with our cybersecurity and industry standards. Your team will influence product design processes resulting in products that is testable & manufacturable.

Your influence will help mitigate risk and make trade-offs between product design and manufacturing. To succeed, the role requires and outstanding mix of skills including considerable leadership and excellent judgement, eye for business, and interpersonal relationships. The day-to-day Building an accountable, multi-functional team including mechanical, electrical, RF, and test engineering that supports bringing Viasat's product portfolio to life Collaborating with partners across the enterprise to improve product testability and manufacturability by preparing the product for the factory Developing internal product roadmaps and being accountable for progress Maintain the financial health of the organization, including CapEx and OpEx spending Ownership of the life cycle of test assets delivered to our globally-distributed manufacturing facilities, including our customers and contract manufacturing partners Generating pull for the organization's services and capabilities with collaborating business segments Continuing to prepare the factory for the product by working with executive leaders in Viasat's manufacturing, operations, and quality departments by meeting industry standards such as AS9100 Helping with the selection, development, and support of Viasat's contract manufacturing and ODM vendors Establish and supervise metrics for the organization, as well as establish SLA/SLO/SLI with our internal customers and collaborators Collaborating with adjacent senior leaders in Operations Technology that support PTE, including software, data, and machine learning engineers What you'll need 10+ years of demonstrated experience in test engineering, product engineering, or related field Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent experience Experience solving sophisticated problems in a "system of systems" manufacturing environment Demonstrated experience in leading multidisciplinary engineering teams Experience with product design, manufacturing, test, and other production processes Expertise in the lifecycle of STE and other test assets Proficient in finding opportunities for standardization and cost reduction Strong RF fundamentals and understanding of RF test methodologies and related test equipment Financially savvy, including a solid understanding of CapEx, OpEx, and product management Experience making trade-offs between cost, schedule, and quality to achieve desired outcomes from both a technical and financial perspective Excellent communication, collaboration, and team leadership skills 30% travel within the US US citizenship required What will help you on the job Familiarity with NI LabVIEW and TestStand Experience designing, testing, or manufacturing of satellite communication systems, including satellites, ground infrastructure, and terminals Experience supporting military SATCOM technologies or programs Ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance Salary range $199,900.00 - $360,000.00 / annually At Viasat, we consider many factors when it comes to compensation, including the scope of the position as well as your background and experience.

Base pay may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
