Our client, an energy transportation and logistics solution provider, is seeking a Senior Director of Operations for their facility located near Fort Worth, Texas.The Director of Operations oversees all daily (and nightly) fleet activities at the highest level. We are looking for a program director and people champion to guide the delivery efforts of inbound and outbound operations while training, developing and supporting the needs of 8 mid-level leaders, 30+ entry-level leaders, and 2,000 driving associates.

The ideal individual will have experience in oil and gas operations, trucking, logistics and business development. He/she will travel about 30% of the time to the Houston area and must be able to communicate effectively with all departments. Knowledge of Proppants, frac sand and/or chemicals is required.


  • Monitor balance, capacity and demand of loads and trucks.
  • Monitor outbound freight volume relative to customer-awarded commitments.
  • Develop contingency plans to cover critical, unexpected situations.
  • Generate new capacity through rate negotiations for unplanned new lanes and volumes.
  • Advanced knowledge of regular and ad-hoc reporting (P&L, revenue share, load counts, etc.)- $3M-$9M.
  • Generate new clients/customers by networking and expanding division efficiencies.
  • Accountable for monitoring and improving Utilization, Home Time, Service and Safety KPIs for the entire fleet.
  • Foster driver tenure and reduce turnover for both company driving employees and owner-operators.
  • Pull large data sets directly from AS/400 and use information to pinpoint trends, analyze fleet productivity, and run operational and ad-hoc reports.
  • Manage the dynamics of a 24/7/365 staff, including hiring, scheduling, performance management, and succession planning.
  • Champion customer service through an intense focus on operational excellence.
  • Report KPI performance daily to all levels of leadership.
  • Develop capabilities (functional and managerial) to operate in diverse circumstances.
  • Develop rolling multi-year road-map for department focusing on people, process and technology for each function.
  • Communicate and manage a high level of incoming emails.
  • Participate in weekly management meetings.


  • Bachelor's Degree and 10+ years of experience with proppants, frac sand and/or chemicals.
  • Must have experience with a P&L of $3M- $9M.
  • Knowledge of AS/400 Software preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of DOT regulations and demonstrated experience with route optimization and vehicle tracking software.
  • Proven record of making well-informed decisions in both routine and emergency situations.
  • Experienced with transportation of temperature-controlled products (Highly preferred).
  • Must reside in or be willing to relocate to the DFW area.

VIEW JOBS 10/22/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-01-20T00:00 The Senior Director of IT Planning and Business Operations has responsibility for the enterprise planning and business operations functions in the Jacobs Engineering IT organization. For the planning function, this role leads cross-functional teams to develop and implement enterprise plans that align supporting technology and IT capabilities with Jacobs Engineering business objectives under a defined enterprise architecture in a cost effective manner. This role serves as a key link between business leaders in the operating businesses and the IT organization. The leader in this role will engage with business leaders to assess technology needs, develop cost effective solutions, and lead corporate governance processes to prioritize and resource those solutions. For the business operations function, the key focus is on the effective management of IT resources to support efficient operations of the IT group for its services to the corporation and provides leadership to the IT project management team. The person in this role also oversees Global IT supply management and vendor performance assuring the corporation of effective IT service contracts that provide good value for the investments. The role is additionally responsible for leading all IT compliance activities including IT related SOX compliance, GRC controls, IT support to audits and necessary remediation activities. Specific Responsibilities: * IT Planning * Collaborates with the IT Leadership Team on development of the enterprise IT strategy that guides the development, acquisition and evolution of IT Services in alignment with the Jacobs Engineering business objectives over a 3-5 year time horizon. * Leads cross-functional teams to analyze Jacobs Engineering business objectives, the business environment, and industry, market and technology trends, in order to, identify and prioritize IT projects, timelines, develop IT service and technology roadmaps and forecast required financial resources. * Provides leadership to establish the next generation of IT services by working with business and technology leaders to identify, pilot and implement technology to solve Jacobs Engineering business challenges. * Financial Governance * Leads the development of the IT Annual Operating Plan and the multi-year planning forecast across the IT group in coordination with the corporate Finance organization. Forecasts OpEx and CapEx by planning year to support corporate financial planning and forecasting operations. * Coordinates the development of financial plans for major IT projects and integrates their financial requirements into the annual operating plan and multi-year planning forecast. * Leads analyses across the IT group to forecast execution against operating plan budgets in order to identify and proactively manages variances. * Leads, establishes, and maintains processes that support end-to-end IT service cost tracking. Leads the development, maintenance and extension of IT Service cost models using cost and usage element data and business rules to define a complete cost allocation model for each IT service. * Leads the development, maintenance and extension of IT service cost reports and dashboards to support the understanding of IT service costs over time. * IT Demand & Portfolio Management * Provides leadership of IT Demand & Portfolio Management for Jacobs Engineering, which includes leading corporate governance processes for the justification, prioritization and governance of all business demand for IT services. * Establishes and maintains the definitive IT Service Portfolio that describes all IT services provided to the business across the Enterprise, describes the business needs each IT service meets and the business outcomes it achieves. Collaborates with IT Service Delivery to ensure IT services and projects are delivered according to schedule, scope and budget objectives. * Establishes and maintains an Enterprise IT service pipeline that serves as the definitive listing of all IT services approved for modification and new IT services approved for development (new demand), their required investments, expected business outcomes and projected development schedule. Develops and distributes key performance indicators and other performance measurement analytics to IT and Business Leadership. * Business Continuity * Has responsibility to define, plan, establish and test business continuity plans and their supporting IT Service Continuity Service Management processes to assure that in a significant business disruption or IT service outage, Business and IT services may be recovered within acceptable times to support required business activities. * Advises Business Leaders on methods of Business continuity planning and IT service disaster recovery that balance business risks with acceptable business impacts and IT service performance at affordable costs. * Global Supply Management * Responsible for the establishment, operation and management of the global IT supply chain supporting Jacobs Engineering to achieve superior vendor performance at a business effective cost. * Oversees managed service providers and other vendor across the contract lifecycle, including negotiation of terms and conditions, changes and modifications, and the enforcement of performance clauses, including penalties and incentives. * Oversee vendors' compliance with contractual terms and conditions, routine attestations and reports, and critical deliverables. Facilitates timely problem resolution of contractual issues to minimize impact of service disruptions. * Leads a robust vendor business review process that consistently yields concrete and continuous improvements in vendor performance, risk mitigation and when possible – savings. * Leads analysis of vendors to highlight their cost of service and performance across different contract engagements, enabling the Sourcing Team to select the preferred vendor for future engagements. * Compliance * Responsible for enterprise information technology governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) for the Jacobs Engineering IT organization. Ensures proper application and maintenance of required control systems (SOX) and proper safeguarding of protected classes of data. * Leads development and maintenance of plans to improve and implement SOX and data protection controls around IT systems and processes. * Leads coordination, preparation, support and remediation for audits, compliance reviews, and state and federal examinations on behalf of IT. Develops and reports on key activity and performance indicators concerning GRC. * Develops and manages key IT and security risk assessment and compliance programs for proactive risk management. * Project Management COE * Responsible for IT Project Management and provides leadership for project management, monitoring, and execution. * Lead, establish and maintain a Project Management Center of Excellence that enables the successful execution of Jacobs Engineering IT projects by ensuring high quality project management resources and methodologies are made available to IT Project Managers * Provide project management governance over all significant IT projects throughout their project lifecycle to assure delivery of intended results on time and within budget. * M&A * Actively engage in the planning and managing of IT strategic transactions related to mergers, acquisitions, partnerships, joint ventures and divestitures programs. Ensures integration into the IT Project Management and Service * Delivery processes. * Leads the analysis for the IT area for acquisition and merger targets or planned divestitures to understand key technology implications, financial indicators, risks and integration timelines. * Leads the gathering, analysis, planning, implementation and ongoing support of all IT activities associated with M&A IT integration or divestiture activities to include staff migration planning, application and technology portfolio analysis, transaction day one planning, oversight of IT Services Agreements and associated revenue tracking. * 7 years of increasing management responsibilities in diverse organizations including business and staff management responsibilities with a demonstrated track record of delivering successful outcomes and achieving stated objectives. * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or other technical discipline. * Demonstrated management responsibility across multiple disciplines in a corporate enterprise IT group, such as, Infrastructure, operations, applications, architecture, security, etc. * Demonstrated experience with effective planning processes, IT corporate governance processes and the ability to build relationships with business leaders across the enterprise to manage and prioritize demand for IT services within available resources to meet corporate business objectives. * Technical understanding of modern enterprise IT operations, their integration and supporting technologies required to deliver effective IT services across a large, distributed business enterprise. * Demonstrated experience managing relationships with service providers and product vendors through the contract lifecycle including RFP processes, contract negotiations and post award vendor performance management. * Demonstrated experience delivering substantial cost reduction (savings) in a corporate environment through business process optimization, IT process optimization, and vendor contract management. * Demonstrated experience managing IT compliance. audit and GRC related activities. * Demonstrated prior project management experience delivery complex, IT projects on time and within budget.
