ADP is hiring a Senior Director of Data Center Operations

In this role, you will be responsible for ADP's Data Centers, with responsibility including planning, design, installation and maintenance of facilities systems and technology hardware to ensure the success of key ADP hosted applications.

Provides leadership to:

Facilities managers, field technicians and consultants to ensure operability of electrical, mechanical and HVAC systems. Helps coordinate day-to-day maintenance activity for UPS, generators, battery plants, chillers, cooling towers, etc. Works with corporate real-estate, security, and service partners to maintain buildings and ground, secure building access and fire-life-safety systems. Ensures the data center operates at maximum efficiency, both financially and environmentally to align with set budgets and to meet ADP carbon emission reduction targets.

Technology managers, field engineers and consultants to ensure proper planning, installation, and maintenance of data center technology equipment. This includes data center floor layout, power/HVAC design, low voltage cabling and installation of network, storage, mainframe, and server technology to alignment with technology and application needs. Works with other technology managers to meet their installation goals while ensuring alignment with corporate change control processes.

To thrive in this role, you'll have a proven track record in managing large scale data centers, having worked through the various daily unknowns that this may present. You'll need to have strong leadership and communications skills, being able to talk details with the technicians and engineers, while at the same time providing a strategic vision for senior leadership. Experience with audit/compliance, budgets, capacity management, project management, executive presentations, vendor management, negotiation, etc.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

Here is what you can expect on a typical day in the life of a Senior Director of Data Center Operations at ADP.

  • Coordinate with DC team leaders to prioritize daily installation, maintenance and break-fix activities for technicians, engineers, and vendors.

  • Create and maintain long-term strategy for facility and technology hardware in coordination with corporate real-estate, technology partners and key vendors.

  • Ensure operational, financial, environmental metrics meet well-defined SLA's.

  • Lead a team in the design, build, and maintenance of critical data center facility services, including mechanical, electric and HVAC.

  • Work with technology leaders to ensure install, build and operational requirements for systems and applications housed in ADP data centers.

  • Develop and implement standards to ensure facility runs at peak efficiency and maximum reliability to ensure uptime.

  • Create and maintain Capital and Operating budgets, business cases for new initiatives, resources plans for BAU and project based hires, etc.

Qualifications:

  • 15+ years' experience in data center facility/technology design, operations and/or maintenance

  • 8+ years of people management experience

  • Proven technical depth required to run this blended technical/engineering focused role, with individual contributor experience in mechanical or electrical engineering, or DC technology.

  • Strong leadership skills, experience in leading teams and projects in person and remotely, and the ability to work with leaders across the spectrum of Technology, Facilities, Managed Services, etc.

  • Bachelor's degree in EE/ME Engineering, Computer Science or a related subject area, or equivalent work experience required; advanced degree is beneficial.

  • Extensive knowledge of data center power and cooling technologies, industry standards for building and safety, as well as regionality in design/application in the US, Canada and possibly global.
