Description

Position Summary:

The Sr. Director of Alumni Engagement and Annual Giving will have oversite of annual giving, alumni engagement, and alumni communications. The Sr. Director will lead a team that is responsible for overseeing the ideation and execution of in-person and online programming that engages alumni and friends of Iona in creative and relevant ways. Through these opportunities, the team will create engagement that leads to increased and consistent philanthropic support of the University. The Sr. Director will develop and execute data-driven strategies, processes, and plans, to grow Iona University's alumni donor base and pipeline through a donor-centered approach to annual giving.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design, lead, and execute the development of annual goals and objectives, operating plans, budgets, and staffing structure for the Alumni Engagement and Annual Giving team

  • Lead the Colleges annual fund program through mailings, phone-a-thons, volunteer coordination,

and digital solicitations working towards sustained growth in unrestricted giving

  • Develop and implement an alumni communications plan to generate interest in University programs, educate alumni on engagement opportunities, and deepen alumni interactions with Iona.

  • Manage all aspects of the Alumni Associations Alumni Board of Directors activities and initiatives serving as the liaison between the College and the Alumni Associations Alumni Board of Directors.

  • Provide leadership, management, and direction to the alumni engagement and annual giving staff and collaborate closely with campus partners.

  • Administer the ongoing business, activities, and operation of the office, ensuring responsiveness to alumni needs and inquiries, as well as college and divisional priorities.

  • Weekend and evening work as needed, including travel to regional events

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree required.

  • Minimum 7 years experience in development or related field, experience in higher education preferred

  • Demonstrated ability to manage and develop staff, while working effectively and collaboratively in a team setting

  • Demonstrated success in setting and exceeding goals

  • Communications strategist with knowledge and comfort of a multi-channel outreach approach

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and customer relations skills required.

  • Strong knowledge of all aspects of fundraising and volunteer engagement, including strategies for donor identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship

  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, creative self-starter capable of working on a team and independently. A high level of initiative and follow-through.
