The Senior Director of Academic Technology in the Department of Information Technology (IT) is a critical, strategic member of the diverse community within The New Schools IT Department. In this role, you will report to the AVP for Foundation Technology. As a forward-thinking leader in the areas of information technology, client services, and academic support, you will oversee a strong team in the strategic planning and implementation of innovative and reliable technology solutions that are in line with the mission of the university in support of advanced teaching and learning environments. The successful applicant must provide strong leadership, and should be an innovative and diplomatic leader with a strong record of building a motivated and skilled team that supports an information technology culture of collaboration and creativity, delivering and exceeding customer expectations.
Technology services provided include the learning spaces oversight and support, event support, and equipment checkout.
Lead the Academic Technology & Client Services team in the development, communication, and execution of Information Technology (IT) strategy.
Develop academic technology strategy by partnerships with leading stakeholders throughout the university.
Inspire, develop, manage, and support an effective and efficient IT workforce.
Actively participate in development of IT governance to establish priorities, develop policies and standards, and allocate resources appropriately.
Engage stakeholders to ensure transparency and promote positive partnerships.
Oversee teams responsible for all areas of academic technology, including technology in labs and classrooms, university event technical support and coordination, and equipment checkout.
Collaborate with faculty, students, and University offices to identify technology needs and forward-thinking innovative solutions to surpass customer expectations.
Analyze organizational impact of technology trends and best practices, evaluate impact of future technology solutions on current and future needs, and establish long-term implementation strategies to ensure optimization of services over time.
Ensure the success of team projects, making sure that these meet client needs, are inclusive of stakeholders during project lifecycle, are done on time and on budget, and have appropriate post-project support.
The New School
