Reporting to the Chief Human Resources Officer, the Senior Director of Human Resources will be a strategic and trusted HR advisor to help shape our evolving organization focusing on immediate impact, balanced with long-term scalability specifically in the areas of Learning and Development and HR Business Partner. The Senior Director will be responsible for designing and executing end-to-end scalable programs for development of managers and employees at all levels that support the development of our talent pipeline and are aligned with Pliant's strategic priorities, Core Values, and leadership attributes. This role will also oversee the evolution of talent and performance management processes, team and leadership tools and practices that drive performance excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for driving the strategy and roadmap to connect learning and development with business priorities across key audiences - employees, managers, senior leaders.

  • Analyze existing L&D programs/materials to identify opportunities for enhancement or innovation.

  • Provide expertise on best approaches and modes of learning ranging from self-service to off-the-shelf to customized options.

  • Stay abreast of emerging trends and best practices in L&D to ensure Pliant remains at the forefront of talent development.

  • Partner with stakeholders across the organization to identify critical learning needs and develop solutions that address them effectively.

  • Build curricula for a range of management and leadership development programs to promote leadership capabilities aligned with Pliant's Core Values, leadership attributes and foster a culture of diversity and inclusion.

  • Leverage innovative learning technologies and methodologies to create engaging and impactful learning experiences.

  • Facilitate in-person, blended, and virtual learning experiences.

  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and development within the organization.

  • Monitor, analyze, and report on program key results to support program objectives and ensure initiatives are driving program growth and performance.

  • Evaluate, identify, and partner with vendors as needed to execute on strategy, including budget and vendor management.

  • Create and drive reinforcement materials, tools, and/or follow up sessions to support adoption of learning concepts.

  • Lead the strategy to utilize a learning management system to support development if and when appropriate.

  • Oversee talent management processes including, coaching, individual development planning, talent reviews, performance management, and goal setting.

  • Partner with business leaders and HR to create career paths, succession development plans and performance management plans that support the employees' desire for professional growth, and the organization's need to develop future leaders.

  • Serve as a coach and consultant to business leaders and employees on key organizational, management and employee issues.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, abilities and prior experience required.

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development or related field.

  • Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in HR with a primary focus on L&D

  • HR Business Partner and team leadership experience preferred.

  • Strong understanding of business strategy and the ability to translate business goals into effective L&D initiatives.

  • Prior experience working within the biotech/life science industry.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills with the ability to influence through listening, writing, and presenting.

  • Strong facilitation and analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to coach employees and managers in sensitive situations.

  • Project-management skills and demonstrated commitment to delivering excellent results in a fast-paced environment.

  • Experience in talent management processes such as performance management, talent reviews, succession planning, and individual development planning.

  • Expertise in change management.

  • Ability to think creatively and encourage innovation.

  • Able to exercise judgment and independently determine and take appropriate action within defined HR/company policies and procedures.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team, inspiring trust and confidence from HR colleagues and business-partner alike.

Pliant requires all new hires to be fully vaccinated prior to the first date of employment (subject to any legally required exemptions).

The annual base salary for this role is $245k - $260k. Individual pay may vary based on additional factors, including, and without limitation job-related skills, experience, work location and relevant education or training. Pliant's compensation package also includes benefits, equity, and annual target bonus for fulltime positions.
