As the Senior Director of Labor and Employee Relations, you will be responsible for leading organizing campaigns after a petition has been filed and for planning, developing and implementing strategies designed to promote positive employee relations that drive engagement. You'll also work on implementing systems and processes designed to identify and resolve issues before they reach critical mass, inoculating business units to avoid or mitigate organizing attempts or threats of imminent harm to the company, and developing and implementing training for employees, field leaders and HR. What you'll do on a typical day:

  • Design, update and implement labor relations business strategies, including developing training and communicating important information

  • Anticipate potential changes and advise business leaders on the impact strategic or operational decisions will have on engagement, dysfunction and unionization risk; make recommendations that avoid and/or mitigate labor disputes

  • Act as a first responder and provide leadership and materials for pre- or post-petition union campaigns, including leading the management team on the ground during organizing campaigns

  • Drive the development and execution of best-in-class training for frontline employees, field leaders and HR teams across the enterprise, including training on positive workplace practices and how to maintain a nonunion work environment or how to create a high-performing team if a union is organized

What you need to succeed at XPO:

At a minimum, you'll need:

  • Bachelor's degree in HR, Management, Business or a related field
  • 15 years of significant labor management experience in both union and nonunion environments, specifically in leading/organizing campaigns in the field, advancing practices and policies designed to promote employee engagement and company values, and overseeing collective bargaining negotiations

It'd be great if you also have:

  • Master's degree in HR, Management, Business or a related field

  • 15 or more years of significant labor and employee relations experience in a union environment

  • Experience participating with, and ideally leading, post-petition organizing campaigns

As an Employee Relations Consultant on the EthicsLine/Dispute Resolution team, you will be responsible for the communication, guidance and education of core and common Employee Relations (ER)/HR policies. You will provide support and consultation that champions company policy, vision and values, while maintaining a focus on risk mitigation. Individuals within this position have an adaptable approach in order to consult with a variety of leadership personalities, communication styles and expectations. This position acts as an independent, confidential resource providing clients with analysis of facts, conclusions and recommendations as appropriate. Key Job Responsibilities * Provide counsel and assistance to team members and all levels of management on ER issues. * Conduct dispute reviews to include corrective action and performance reviews * Provides front-line support in the prevention, investigation, resolution, and referral of ER problems. * Maintain accurate, timely, and required documentation of activities to ensure quality employee relations records and metrics. * Collaborates with other centers of excellence such as HR Business Partners, the Law Department, and/or Internal Investigations. * Exercise sound judgment and expertise within broadly defined policies and practices. * Recommends or takes appropriate actions to address concerns as needed. * Identification and analysis of ER issues, of a diverse scope, that require in-depth review of Wells Fargo policies and labor law legislation. * Maintain ability to work in a fast-paced environment and effectively manage competing priorities. * Consult and build relationships with all levels of team members. * Help research ER trends and issues.
