The Position:

As the Senior Director of IT at Maze, you'll spearhead strategies that power our technology applications, platforms, and infrastructure. In this role, you'll be at the forefront of ensuring availability, integrity, security, and compliance of all IT systems and infrastructure. Your mission is to not only meet our current technological needs but also seamlessly align them with our long-term business objectives, collaborating closely with departments such as Finance, HR, Legal, Quality, Clinical, Pharmacovigilance, Regulatory, Research Infrastructure and Technical Operations. Your Impact:

  • Provide leadership, vision, and direction to establish and implement a right-sized IT strategy and systems to align with Maze's stage of development and projected growth.

  • Spearhead the transition to a cloud-first computing infrastructure collaborating closely with Informatics and Data Science teams to ensure a seamless integration.

  • Prioritize and oversee a diverse portfolio of IT projects, each strategically aligned with Maze's business goals.

  • Elevate company efficiency and productivity by refining and maintaining key scientific and business systems.

  • Uphold the highest standards of IT security and compliance, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements such as SOX, GDPR, and more.

  • Develop enterprise standards, technology architecture, and IT operations governance processes to help guide efficient IT investment across the organization.

  • Continually evaluate IT out-sourcing opportunities versus building core competencies and engage consultants/where appropriate.

  • Help define and execute long-range strategic IT projects by leading cross-functional project teams.

  • Ensure key strategic IT initiatives are delivered on time and within budget, maintaining the highest quality standards throughout.

  • Foster strong relationships across the organization and with external partners and vendors, ensuring alignment and effective collaboration.

  • Mentor and build a team of IT professionals, empowering them to deliver our IT strategy and drive business success.

  • Lead effectively in a diverse, team-oriented environment and develop solid, working relationships at all levels across the organization and with external partners and vendors.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science/business administration or an equivalent level of education and comparable experience with 10+ years of industry experience in Biotech, Pharma or Life Sciences Company including 5+ years of IT Leadership.

  • Experience working within a clinical stage, public company biotech environment

  • Proven experience managing IT services and solutions in a SaaS cloud environment, with a knack for developing strategic system roadmaps.

  • Exceptional vendor management skills and the ability to forge strong relationships with key stakeholders and client executives.

  • Thrive in a fast-paced IT environment, capable of distilling technical concepts for non-technical audiences and managing multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Extensive experience in regulated environments, with a deep understanding of structured and agile SDLC methodologies, computer systems validation processes, and regulatory frameworks such as FDA, GAMP 5, and GDPR.

  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with a track record of building and leading high-performing teams.

The expected annual salary range for employees located in the San Francisco Bay Area is $254,000 -$311,000. Additionally, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus.

Maze performs position-based compensation benchmarking to industry market data to ensure we pay competitive wages. Determination of starting salary will depend upon a variety of job-related factors, which may include professional experience, skills, and job location. The expected salary range for this role may be modified in the future.
