Position Summary:

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Senior Director, Food & Nutrition.

Plans, organizes, directs, controls, and monitors all activities for Food & Nutrition Services to provide continuous and consistent quality service to meet financial and customer service parameters inclusive of the Manhattan and Brooklyn Campuses. Is responsible for the administration of all policies and procedures and the daily operation of all services. Ensures services are compliant with The Joint Commission and all Federal, State, and Local regulations

Job Responsibilities:

  • Oversees all operations of the Food and Nutrition Services Department for the Manhattan and Brooklyn Campuses of NYU Langone Health. Holds the management team accountable to the highest standards, ensuring that departmental and organizational goals are met.

  • Adheres to and promotes the mission, vision and values of the Food and Nutrition Services Department and NYU Langone Health. Achieves a world class level of food and hospitality for our staff, patients, and guests.

  • Ensures a high level of employee engagement and satisfaction by facilitating a positive work environment, open lines of communication, and culture of excellence.

  • Maintains sanitary, safe, and efficient operation in accordance with all regulatory bodies and department policies

  • Participates in the development and management of the operating and capital budgets through appropriate review and supervision of resource utilization inclusive of the development and implementation of cost savings, revenue generation strategies to meet departmental /organizational goals.

  • Manages by providing positive and constructive feedback, and performance evaluations to employees and managers to reward, coach, correct and motivate.

  • Responsible for hiring, coaching, and counseling of management and staff, union and exempt.

  • Participates in the review, revision, and/or development of departmental policies

  • Responsible for scheduling and completing payroll functions. Ensures that all staff members complete required organizational and compliance training.

  • Manages by providing positive and constructive feedback, and performance evaluations to employees and managers to reward, coach, correct and motivate.

  • Plans and develops, a unit specific QIA program. Executes and implements departmental QIA standards by ensuring quality food and service.

  • Plans and directs the activities to assure quality service of food to patients, staff, faculty, students, and visitors.

  • Represents and is actively involved with hospital committees and other regional/national applicable professional organizations.

  • Plans, coordinates, and directs programs to support NYU Dietetic Internship, and other student educational programs.

  • Purchases all supplies in accordance with NYULMC Sourcing protocols and regulatory agency standards, and specifications to promote a smooth running operation.

  • Identifies and recommends new sales and revenue opportunities and service enhancements for business growth and to meet client needs.

  • Is responsible for ensuring staff comply with all Human Resource policies and procedures, wage and salary administration, and EEO / AA guidelines.

  • Ensures that the nutritional needs of patients are met through the development of nutritionally balanced menus and appropriate nutrition care / education is provided in a timely and effective manner for inpatients and ambulatory patient of all ages.

Minimum Qualifications:

To qualify you must have a Bachelors Degree in Food and Nutrition Services or related field.

8-10+ years experience in managing food and nutrition services in a healthcare or similar hospitality environment.

National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation for ServSafe Protection Certification (obtained within 6 months of hire)

Preferred Qualifications:

Masters Degree in Food and Nutrition Services or related field.

Ten years experience in managing food and nutrition services in major Medical Center.

Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $213,477.56 - $304,968.49 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
